Show the bounty law editor of the times ifor for the information of your readers practically all of whom are in in te rested in the bounty law passed by the last legislature I 1 shall appreciate preci ate very much if you will publish the following regarding same the new law provides for the pay ment foont of a bounty of 25 00 each for bears mountain lions and cou gars 50 00 each for grey black or timber each for coyotes bax and bob cats lie each fur for bac ack rabbits and gophers and 3 ac each for prie prairie dogs doga and ground squirrels to secure the bounty on bears hops cougars cou aara wolves coyotes lynx and bob cats the person killing the same must present to the county clerk within 60 days from the date of killing such animals the entire skin akin of nf such animals including the scalp with the ears s tail aill bune bone to the chesar egl knee of each f fore a 1 leg wl with t ipacs paws connected except that in the case of mountain lions and cougars the en an tire bone of the right fore leg intact from the shoulder down must be presented in the case of rabbits the two ears connected must be pre dented and in the case of gophers prairie dogs and ground squirrels the entire head including the ears must be presented in such a state of preservation as to enable the county clerk to identify such animals all such parts of animals presented for bounty must meet be accompanied by an affidavit subscribed and sworn to before the county clerk stating that such animals were killed by the person presenting same lame in the county in which they are presented with 10 a 60 days prior to the date of such affidavit irom I rom the above paragraph it will be observed that it is impossible for deputies to be appointed throughout the county to receive and pay boun been ty for such animals as aa has previous ly been the custom whenever bounty has been paid on rabbits etc and it faill 11 likewise be impossible for clerks to receive parts of such ani mals through the mail and bounty them because the person killing such animals must subscribe and swear to the affidavit above men tinned before the clerk there has been some question as aa to towboat what are a gophers gopher sand and what are ground squirrels and in which loth else class clu chiselers chis lers alers pil property come but we are advised that ground squirrels aul r include n de what are locally known as ed chilleri chis leri er while gophers are more like them but larger with a longer and more bushy tell tail larger and more round ears about the same color on the back as a mouse but lighter under their body because of the work which it will necessitate in the county clerks office in preparing affidavits issuing warrants etc the attorney gener A E has hag ruled that clarks will be jus tidied in ref refining ing to esaue as no wan warrants for bounty in amounts I 1 less a than or one doll dollar arand and our instruct instructions are to that effect W WARNER WARMER MITCHELL county clerk |
