I November November 1918 D Dearest arest Folks Folks Folks-At Folks Ai last the end has come This l is what we all aU left home to bring Ina na hurry hurry I suppose the news was received with wildest st Joy oy that ever struck the old town We got the news here her early in the morning and believe me me this oldtown old oldtown oldtown town went wild The French and American flags float floated d from all aU buildings The fellows from the Barracks even had nerve enough to ring the old church bells But Dut even now our work hasn't ceased and it may be quite awhile before we all get home But if they will hurry and send send the boys home that have have been in the trenches home I will be beI I satisfied here for awhile because I Ido Ido do not dislike the place and if it they get me back in time to get to school next year it will suit me Altho I would rather be home than here here here- let et me tell you I have be been n here now six weeks and have not received any mail mall from anyone as yet But Dut I know you are writing an and ani I suppose when I start getting them they will come regular I often wonder wORder and not without a little worry as to how everyone are 1 hope the damnable influenza is not as prevalent at home as it has been in other places because it sure has ta taken its toll wherever it has struck struck- and beleve be be- I haven't heard from Klyde lIeve leve me it keeps me worrying a great deal I have had very little sickness myself myself myself my my- self and the fellows in the barracks have sure been lucky Y as not a one has had the flu This is the hardest pl place ce in the world for me to write a letter There Theres Is s lots of news but not the kind one can write about But Dut I will say that my work isn't hard and I am getting all that I want to eat Well dear ones I will hopIng hoping hoping hop hop- ing that the next time I write that I have received mall mail from you all alland alland alland and that I may be able to make a guess as to when I will be back to the old home again Your loving son and brother RAY nAY |
