The most powerful emotional love story of the year. A film for the ages" - Andrew Sarris, New York Observer Finally, there is a movie about a relationship betweea a man and a woman in their seventies. Andreas and Qaire, young lovers fifty years ago, find each other again. He is widowed and she is married to a distracted husband. Together they discover the thrill of intense love through flirting, intimate meals, and walks on his lovely estate. The actors portraying the couple are both attractive, humorous and without artifice. This film stands almost alone because of its interest in the sexual needs and concerns of the elderly. Desert Star by Destiny Grose RECORD GUEST WRITER No matter w hat time of year it is. the Desert Star Wild West Theater wants its patrons to relax and have some fun. This year's Christmas show is especially fun. They have taken the popular "Grinch who stole Christmas" combined it with certain cer-tain aspects of Dr. Seuss and added some local humor with current events, to make it fun for the whole family. The evening starts out with everyone getting settled into their "dinner show" tables and chairs. There is definitely an atmosphere of the Old West and by Joyce Nichols Lewis V f ' f performs a parody of Dr. Seuss classic you can almost imagine that you are in an old-time melodrama. The piano player comes out, warms up the crowd and lets everyone in on the secrets of melodramatic audience participation. participa-tion. When the villain appears, you hiss and boo, when the hero appears you cheer and clap and when anything "tender" happens you sigh especially if it is between the hero and his love interest. . Before the show begins, the "Olio" takes the opportunity to spotlight the birthdays and anniversaries of the audience. Just sneak the information to someone at the box office before hand then you can sit back and enjoy the fun. This year's "A Christmas Wish Olio" is filled with sing-a long Christmas carols. Because the majority of colleges in America don't offer biathlon programs, pro-grams, it 's the one of the only ways to pursue the sport. They're enjoying their time on the road while it lasts. "They learn a global perspective." perspec-tive." savs Salmela. The Olympic trials start on Dec. 29. While it 's not out of the question ques-tion that some in the group could qualify for the Games, most of the athletes have their sights set on the World Junior Championships held in Italy later this winter. To qualify for those events, junior racers need to finish within a certain time of the race's winner. Qualifiers will leave for Europe your order for root beer floats, sundaes, pizzas etc.... that you will enjoy during the show. If you want to keep the refreshments simple, order a drink and enjoy the basket of popcorn on your table, thus saving room for a "cowboy steak" with all the fixin's in the Wild West Steakhouse. With the pre-show ordering and entertainment over, everyone settles back into their seats and are introduced to the Desert Star's Whos. WTioville is a simple, yet happy place until something bad happens, like the Grinch or, even scarier, the Abominable Snowman.
