G Gates His death is mourned by all who know v him I I Clarence Gary Gates was born at Salina Utah August 5 5 1887 a son of or orI Clarence and Jane Gates He was educated in the Park City and Salt Lake City schools graduating from the University of or Utah with the class of or 1 1911 as a mining engineer He lIe was a member of the university football team for two years was a member of or tho I Sigma Chi fraternity and active In fish and game associations He worked as a Do mining engineer In InI inI I Anaconda Butte Park City and Ely Nevada During his work at at Ely In 1916 he received serious burns as a member I of or a rescue party in a mine fire which turned l his ls attention to Insurance fields He became district manager of or the I Metropolitan Life Insurance company at Salt Lake City and continued there for 15 years leaving Salt Lake City to take takeno a no position with the Equitable Life association as association as- as association In New York City which he held until his death While living In Salt Lake City he was a member of Our Divine Saviour parish He married Nellie Jennings a Park City girl teaching at Ely in 1913 Survivors Include the widow three sons Gordon James Kenneth John and Gary Harold Gates three daughters Helen Margaret Anne and ana Terese Gates all of ot Brooklyn his mother Mrs Jane Hogan two brothers Frank Fran and Lee Hogan and a sister Mrs Grace Scott all of Brooklyn Mrs James M. M Jennings Jen Jen- Jennings a a. sister resides in Salt Lake City and two sisters law Mrs J. J B. B Mitchell and Mrs Harold W W.
