Show C-6 The Park Record Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues, April 27-30, 2019 calendar of music & events happening this week Saturday, April 27 The Bestminster Dog Show The Bestminster Dog Show, presented by The Park Record and Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Jeremy Ranch Golf and Country Club, 8770 Jeremy Road. The Bestminster Dog Show is a pet fair with featured dog contests. Dog contest categories include Best Bark, Waggiest Tail, Loveliest Lady, Fabulous Fella, Best Kid Handler, Best Costume and Best Owner/Dog Lookalikes. Dog owners must register their dogs in advance by calling Julie at 435-640-5119 or emailing parkrecordevents9014@gmail.com. The entry fee is $20 for as many size category entries desired and admission for one handler. General admission is $5 for adults. Kids ages 10 and younger will be admitted for free. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Recycle Utah will hold a household hazardous waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Canyons Cabriolet parking lot. Fork in the Road Fundraiser EATS Park City, a nonprofit that promotes healthy eating, will host its annual fundraiser, Fork in the Road, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the Park City Mountain Resort’s Legacy Lodge, 1325 Lowell Ave. The event will feature dinner, drinks a silent auction and live music by Michelle Moonshine. Avian Adventures at the Swaner EcoCenter Utah birder Kenny Frisch will present Avian Adventures I, the first of four birding tours this year, on the Swaner Preserve at 7-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Frisch will guide the group on an excursion to view and identify resident and migratory feathered friends on the Preserve. Participants should wear hiking shoes or boots that can get wet, and be prepared for uneven soggy ground. The EcoCenter will provide binoculars for each attendee. Registration is required. Russell’s Western Adventures, 1868-1869,” at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at the Park City Museum’s Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive. Andrew J. Russell took nearly 1,000 photographs of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1868 and 1869. Today his photographs are analyzed as art, as historical evidence, and as cultural objects. The lecture will also explore who Russell was as a person. Due to spring break, the April session will be moved from April 9 to April 16. CONNECT also hosts at support group for parents and guardians of school-age youth from 4-5 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Parley’s Park Elementary School Counseling Center, 4600 Silver Springs Drive. This group covers topics relevant to all people struggling with any type of disordered eating.
