Mozart went throughhdlto write music named for a god. 73i Mozart's life was falling apart in 1788. He was deeply in dept, his health was faltering, his professional status was on the decline, and his only daughter died at the age of six months. Yet from these bleak circumstances circum-stances came one of the greatest miracles in music history: his SymplionyNo. 41 in C Major, subtitled "Jupiter," after the ruler of the Greek gods. Experience this divine masterpiece as the Utah Symphony presents another in a series of chamber orchestra concerts. Also featured is Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante for Oboe, Bassoon, Violin, Violincello and Orchestra in B-flat major, a high-spirited piece reflecting the cheerful disposition for which Haydn is so well-known. You'll also enjoy the delightful music of Johann Christian Bach, youngest son of Johann Sebastian. The artistry behind his Sinfonia for Double Orchestra in E-flat major is one of the reasons why the "English Bach" was honored above all by his younger contemporary, contempo-rary, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Ovistopher Wilkins conducts this evening of music on Saturday, March 26 at 8 p.m. in Sympfiony Hall. Tickets are $12 for reserved seats, $8 general admission, Si for students.
