Show Black Pearl Clinches No. 2 Spot in Ladies League runners for Sneakers and the team went on to score a third. Black Pearl led 9 to 7 at the top of the sixth but were held scoreless by Sneakers. Sneakers tied the score in the bottom of the sixth bringing in two runners. run-ners. In the final inning Judy De Los Cobos scored a homeron to put the Pearl in front by one. Sneakers couldn't put together a run in the bottom on the seventh and settled for third place in the league. The 4th Annual Women's Invitational Softball Tourney gets underway here August 27 and runs through Sunday the 29th. The annual awards party will be held at the Black Pearl Monday August 30 from 8:30 to 12:30. The price is $10 for food and unlimited cocktails. The Black Pearl won a second place rank in the final women's softball league standings last Monday following fol-lowing a nip and tuck 10 to 9 match against Sneakers. Just Arnie's claimed undisputed undis-puted first place honors last week with a perfect 10 and 0 record and The Club came in clearly last with a 0 and 10 record. That left four teams in a tie for second place all with 5 and 5 records on the season. Sneakers, Black Pearl, Group I and Prospector Sirloin entered the four-way play-offs over the weekend. In the first round Black Pearl beat Group I narrowly 12 to 11 and Sneakers walked past Prospector Sirloin 16 to 11. Later, Group I forfeited to Prospector making the latter the clear fourth place team. The second-third play-offs got underway at City Park Monday night between Sneakers and Black Pearl. The Pearl got off to an early 1 to 0 lead in the first inning. Sneakers pulled out in front at the end of the second after scoring two runners and holding the Pearl to their one earlier run. Marianne McKinney hit a homerun for the Black Pearl in the third that sparked a charge that drove four runners home during the inning. Sari Brennan knocked a homer for Sneakers in the bottom of the third and another run brought them within one of the Pearl at 5 to 4. The Black Pearl scored three runners in the fourth and held Sneakers to none giving the Pearl a comfortable comfor-table 8 to 4 lead at the top of the fifth.
