long time was that of 0 samuel J ba barrett r rett which occurred early last Surl sunday morning after but a brief illness with pneumonia tile the demise la is particularly sad because of the fact that mr barrett was the sole support of his windowed mother who unfortunately has been confined to her bed since last february when she tell fell and fractured tier her hip and during the illness of her son was unable to see him or care tor for him during his suffering the devoted mother is almost distracted at the i death of tier her boy and the deepest sympathy of all is extended to her in her sorrow and affliction the cloud of sorrow and trouble has surely enveloped the home of mrs barrett tor for years past bereft of her husband years ago she was left with a family of tour four the youngest being a helpless invalid requiring cone constant tant care and attention then the distressing accident of last february and now the taking away of tier her beloved boy is indeed a crushing blow and calls forth the sincerest sympathy from her host of friends samuel J barrett was born in virginia city nevada in 1879 coming to park city with his parents when but a child since being old enough to work lie he has been employed at the different mines of 0 the camp among his fellow workmen he was always a favorite he was a member of park city lodge no 7 1 I 0 0 P F under whose auspices the funeral occurred wednesday afternoon ter noon beside his mother mr air barrett is survived by one brother and two sisters mrs richard gartrell of eutte butte montana who has been in the park with tier her mother since the lat aed accident dent and mrs george M crossman of this city to these sorrowing ones sympathy goes out the funeral occurred from 1 I 0 0 F P hall wednesday afternoon and was was very largely attended by friends of the family rev T P cook of the M E church preached a consoling sermon at the conclusion of the ritualistic services eg of the odd fellows and a special choir furnished the music there were many beautiful lowers flowers be speaking the high regard in which deceased was held and the silent sympathy of chloee friends comprising the choir were mrs airs joseph coming very suddenly this time it was as john P kelly who tor for more than thirty eight years bad made his home in park city following the occupation of miner nearly all of that time for a time he was associated soc socia ted in business busl nees with mr john carey who this week was also called deceased DM De eased was born in ireland sixty three years ago he was knowis to almost everybody in the city and always bad a pleasant greeting for or all he met ile he waa nas a devout member ot of the catholic church a charter member ot of the local branch of 0 the ancient order of Hibernia ns and an n active and prominent member tit of the park city miners unton union mr air kelly kally had not been feeling well lor for some time past but was around as usual until one day before his death when he was confined to his bed dropsy was given as the immediate cause ot of death deceased Is survived by a wid JOHN CAREY wednesday morning morn lne john carey one of the very old timers of park city died in his cabin located in the lumber yard lower part of 0 town mr carey came to the park in th the e late and spent the greater portion othis time in prospecting tion an and working at the different mines like so many prospectors he tailed failed to strike the lead that lead to riches and he died poor his entire possessions probably not netting more than enough to pay his funeral expenses pens s notwithstanding during life he was always contented and happy making the best of 0 conditions and enjoying living in its his own m way ay in the early SOs mr cagey was in the saloon business with mr J P kelly whose death Is announced this week in these columns when retiring from that line ot of work he prospected the hills in this vicinity working in the mines only to raise necessary grub stakes and such is ia the life and altogether too frequent the manner 0 of death of the average prospector he who usually blazes the trail for the more fultun ate ones who follow and acquire wealth john carey was born in ireland about seventy years ago he was a member of the catholic church and had the extreme satisfaction of receiving the full rites of the church before death patrick lane a miner who had been in the employed of the company for only three weeks was tending station on the level and in some unaccountable manner ran a car into the shaft he going down with it
