Show g b C I 1 na m ampbell D teh de a d it was indeed a sad shock to the community this morning when the news news spread that cal campbell had passed away it was two tio weeks today to day when the well known and popular young man met with his accident at the broadwater mill i ile he received a frightfully fractured leg at that time lime when taken to the local hospital the doctors best judgment told them the limb should lie be amputated dr snow who had charge of 0 the case did everything in his power to prevent amputation but the following sunday the limb was in such condition that dr baldwin of 0 salt lake was war summoned tor for consultation he arrived monday morning and gang iene having already set in an operation immediately followed the I 1 limb being taken oft off at the knee joint the sufferer rallied from the operation but his physical condition did not improve he was exceedingly despondent and very weak the injured leg did not lieal heal in fact gradually getting worse orse because of 0 infection and tor for several days past it was known that another operation would be ne cesary but because of the patients weakened condition it was delayed yesterday mr campbell seemed brighter in himself and last night he talked with ti it lends jends and enjoyed their visit about midnight it was found the leg was bleeding freely dr snow was summoned and he be called drs bardsley and lecompte and after consultation by telephone with dr baldwin in salt lake another operation was decided upon the patient was put on the operating table able about 3 and the limb taken off above the knee tears fears being felt by the physicians that the rations would not nol survive the shock ile he rallied however but his vitality was gone and he gradually sank until seven when the end came it is indeed hard to realize that the strong robust genial bigheart big heart ed and popular cal campbell Is no more how uncertain is life what a short step it is from perfect happiness high hopes and contentment to death abject despair and the bitterest sorrow truly does god move in a mysterious way ills his kozl wonders to perform and at such times as these our hearts cry out for do da triai to I 1 1 1 11 vine strength to bear our afflictions to brave brava the struggles of 0 ire ie and surmount the disappointments and trials thereof god pity the bereaved widow tha aged father and mother mether the devoted beo brothers Ulers and sister ter and to them goes out the sympathy of hosts of friends who mourn with them in their great loss one consolation comes to them in the fact that he was perfectly conscious to the last his thoughts seeming to be to give cheer and comfort to his wife and other loved ones before the end he received baptism by rev father galligan and had the last rites of the catholic church administered cal campbell was born in wichita kansas june 20 1881 ile he came to park city with his parents on june 1 1900 and has lived here her e continuously I 1 since that time on the of december 1904 lie he was married to miss annie thompson daughter of mr and mrs carl thompson of this elty city beside ills his widow lie he is survived by his big father and mother two brothers wm win L of garfield utah and ed L of wichita kansas and one sister mrs frank payne of this city lie ile was a carpenter by trade and a valuable mill ddn man his services always being in demand ile he was of a genial jolly nature with always a handclasp a cherry word andi and a pleasant smile tor for loved ones and friends ile he was ambitious industrious and clever and by ills his untimely death tile the community loses an ideal husband a devoted son a beloved brother and a good citizen for years past he was a leading spirit in local lodge of elks the past year lie ably filled the office of esteemed leading knight and last monday was unanimously elected to preside over the lodge the ensuing year because of his absence from the elks lodge at that meeting an goedl expression of sympathy and good cheer was formulated and signed by the fifty five members present and delivered to him at the hospital the following day his brother members mourn with the loved ones tor for they too loved him and will mourn tor for him and miss him from their gatherings I 1 arrangements lor for the tha funeral have not yet been made awaiting the ar rival of 0 his brothers from wichita and garfield 11 when all is done and my last word Is said and ye who loved me murmur he Is dead let no one weep for fear that I 1 should know I 1 and sorrow borrow too that ye should sorrow I 1 so when all Is done say not my day isber and that through night I 1 seek a dimmer shore say rather that my morn has just begun I 1 greet the dawn and not a setting 1 sun eun w |
