Show Hear ye, hear ye: Royal crier, wizard, musician join Winter Carnival court King Ziggy (Bob Ziegler) and Queen Syd ( Syndey Reed ) announced announc-ed that their court for the Winter Carnival is nearly complete. As a result of the good response, the King is feeling favorably toward his subjects save one journalist who almost lost his head last week for failing to do the King's biddingand bid-dingand therefore has increased the number of events at the Winter Carnival to more than 30. New additions to the Royal Court are court crier Van Martin; royal friar Glenn Steigmeyer; royal scribe J P. Max land his assistant. Sherman); royal musician Jim San-ty; San-ty; royal accompanist Carol Santy; royal wizard Fred Hightower; and two ladies in-waiting, Val Thurnell and Marty Smith. Sir Steakhouse of The Club was chosen royal bartender. In addition, the kingdom's three ski areas have annointed their royal ski instructors, who will reign during dur-ing the Winter Carnival as follows: Park West Ski Area, Rowlie Busch; Deer Valley Resort, Gary Allen (Sir Wheaties); and Park City Ski Area, John Seegmiller. The King and Queen said that the court jester and a prince and princess from each of Park City's three schools will be named next week. The three days of activities, Feb. 7, and 9, begin at 10 a.m. on the first day with the unveiling of ice sculptures and judging and the of-- of-- I'icial search for the $1,000 grand prize in the treasure hunt. Also on the first day, there will be a Restaurant Rivalry from 2 to 4 p.m., in which teams from the area's restaurants will compete for laurels in unparalleled displays of table- setting, eating, running, skiing and drinking. Also, the town's young skaters will perform at The Skaters' Center at the Park City Ski Area from 5 to (i p.m. On the second day, ParkWest Ski Area will be the site of the Furniture Race. Participating teams must consist of two or more subjects and a piece of modified household furniture fur-niture that meets the requirements of safety and maneuverability. They will then negotiate themselves and their transportation down a four-gate four-gate slalom course. Pre-registration with Rick of Shapiro at 649-4500. would be nice, but not necessary. That evening, Dr. Bob and Deborah of Cassidy will host a teen dance at the Ramada Hotel from 8 to 11p.m. On Feb. K and 9. local golf professional profes-sional Douglas of Vilven will host Snow Golfing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also on Feb. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m., the Snowball Biathlon will be held and from 1 to 4 p.m. the Broomball Ice I lockey contest is planned. Two sessions of a contract bridge tournament will be held on the final day. The tournament is sponsored by the Utah Contract Bridge League and organized by Mary of Lehmer. One session starts at 11 a.m. and the other 4:30 p.m. Call Mary at 649-9564 for more information.
