Show 4 va CITY COUNCIL y v rv v v r y the city council held a short and rather unimportant session last thursday night mayor ridge and all councilmen with the exception of bf councilman billings were present on the recommendation of water master wilson the council decided to install three new sanitary drinking fountains crane co of salt lake and 11 W deighton of this city both had bids to furnish and install the same and the latter being the lowest the contract was wag awarded to hini him they will be in use ui ia within t the e next ten days the report of fire chief shaw recommending the purchase of more hose was again laid un on the table as it is the fie intention of the council on the earnest recommendation of 0 councilman macfarlane to so BO arrange matters that all the two inch hwe hose will bo be in une one section of town and tile the two and ana a halt half inch fact if fr the more thickly populated portion ard and to do this will require some changes change the matter of ft lie i e alarm was again ds discussed assed as the apparatus of the old alarm la Is beyond beyond repair the purchase of a new alarm system will be looked into by the mayor and the committee on tire fire and water A mr air madson was present and urged tho the pur purchase chasa of a street flusher such as are in use in salt lake provo and other cities in the state the cost of the same la Is the matter was laid over tor for further investigation and discussion mr bywater by water of salt lake was also present and exhibited samples of tire fire hose manufactured by the C C company but was informed by mayor ridge that the city was not in the market for or hose at this time mayor mayo r ridge asked that an additional c p light be placed on the corner of lower main fain street which was consented to by the council and tile the same will be installed city recorder miss hurley was instructed ted to notify the utah power light company to remove certain light poles on lower park avenue that necessary cement repairs and im might he be made mayor ridge informed the council that the union pacific would furnish the cement it if city would furnish labor to extend the present unfinished piece of crossing from heber avenue to j union pacific station this was agreed to and council adjourned until july ath |
