Show Wednesday, December 4, 1974 Page 4 PMK CITY BBM THANKSGIVING FOR M ARSAC PRIMARY GRADES Kindergarten, first and second graders enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal which all helped to prepare on Wednesday, November 27th. The day before all contributed in the making of soup; on the day of the feast, the assorted pilgrims and Indians baked corn bread and popped popcorn. All in all, a festive time was had by all . CIIAMBEROF COMMERCE KICKOFF The Park City Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual kickoff dinner on Friday, December 6th, at 7 PM. The affair will be held at the Cest Bon Hotel and will feature a Baron of Beef dinner , cocktails, and a ski fashion show. The event will initiate the Chambers fund raising and membership drive, the ultimate aim of which is to promote business in Park City. Of special concern to the Chamber in tlje coming months will be the augmenting of summer tourism. The most immediate objective of the group, however, is the production of a significant snowfall. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office and at the First Security Bank. The price of admission will be $7 per person, a decrease of $.50 over last years prices rather remarkable in these inflationary times. HERES MUD PIE IN YOUR EYE Lewis Miller will put his money where his mouth is on Saturday, December 7th. At 12 noon, Mr. Miller will attempt to eat an entire Robbers Roost mud pie at (Hie sitting. If he succeeds, he gets the pie free. If he fails, along with indigestion, he loses a $10 bet. If Mr. Miller indeed does finish the entire mud pie, he must remain on the premises for one hour to insure that all the ingested pie does not reappear. Failure to stomach the pie for the specified period of time will result in a disqualification. MORE ABOUT CROSS-COUNTR- Y VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT ACTION ON DEC. 2 AT PCHS MARSAC THANKSGIVING TOURING Last week, ski touring enthusiasts were able to attend two discussions on various aspects of the sport. Tuesday evening, November 26th, Dewey Tofson of Quiet Sports discussed equipment and presented some slides showing some of the beautiful spots where one can go while ski touring. Friday evening, November 29th, Jim Miller and Steve Erickson of The Uphill Company gave a talk which dealt with some of the more physical aspects of ski touring(i.e., how to pine tar your skis) and also showed a short film on touring. Steve and Jim rescheduled their clinic far this Saturday, December 7th, at 10 AM at City Park. Instruction will be free and rentals will be available at a low cost. THEOBALD SPEAKS AT PARK CITY SCHOOLS Bob Theobald, local hotdogger of national fame, spoke at PCHS and at Marsac Elementary on Wednesday, November 27th. Sponsored by the Recreation Program, Bob spoke about freestyle skiing, answered questions, and showed two films Time To Go For It and Utah On My Mind which featured him as well as other big namehotdoggers. BOB THEOBALD MEMORIAL BUILDING HAPPENINGS Basketball In October,, a Basketball League for elementary and high school students was organized. Because there was not enough adult leadership, the League never really began. At this time there seem to be a few enthusiastic adults who would like to make this League a reality. More adults are still needed. Since October, the high school organized their teams. Many students who first showed interest in the Recreation League are now on the high school teams. All students who would still like to play in the Recreation League please sign up at the Memorial Building any day this week after school. Elementary school students are encouraged to sign up for the League. All those interested please sign up or the Memorial Building before telephone Tuesday, December 10th. The tournament will be organized Saturday, December 7th, at 4:30 PM at the Memorial Building. All students who wish to participate come to the bowling alley at this time. Everyone between the ages of 14 and 20 is invited to this dance from 9:30 to 12:30 Friday night at the Memorial Building. Disc jockey Mark Van Wagoner will host the event w'hich will feature various dance contests, with a chance of winning over $50 worth of record albums. Refreshments will be served, and admission is $1.25. Volleyball The gymnasium at the Memorial Building will soon be used for volleyball. Two regulation size volleyball courts are being set up fa use two nights a week. The gymnasium is open 5 nights a week from 5 to 10 PM. Between 5 and 7 PM, the gym is reserved for students only. Any organized group may reserve the gym any day except Tuesday and Sunday, when the Memorial Building is closed. Womens Team Sports There will be a general interest meeting for all girls and women who are interested in team sports. At this time it is hoped that several basketball and volleyball teams can be farmed. The meeting will be held at the Memorial Building at 6 PM on Monday, December 9th. Anyone who would like to have some fun, get some exercise, and show some team spirit, please come to the meeting. No advanced skills are necessary.
