Show Wednesday, September 4, 1974 THE PARK CITY auunm To add a little change of pace to this column, we are dog-meet-d- og featuring Herbie, a Belgium Hare, this week. Herbie is one and a half years old and belongs to Cher and Merle Huseth. The fact that the bouncy fellow is one and a half is unfortunate because thats the life expectancy for these creatures. On the bright side, however, Herbie will be as active as ever right up to the fateful day he hops to the big carrot patch in the sky. Yes, Herbje is an Easter Bunny. He was given to the Huseths on Easter Sunday of 1973. The docile pet sustains himself on a diet of rabbit pellets. Complimenting this basic staple, he adds a side dish each month. Past selections include carrot tops, toast, and Bloody Marys. Herbie likes to romp in the Huseths backyard but, oc- casionally, some of his canine neighbors threaten to cut short his already minimal existence. Perhaps five times, he has had to dash for the back door, narrowly escaping the snapping jaws of his pursuer. These hare racing experiences have caused Merle to ponder the wisdom of allowing his pet outside. But Herbie loves to hop in the open air, so Merle figures he doesnt have a hare in his grass if he doesn't let him out. While indoors, Herbie is He is thoroughly well-mannere- house-traine- d d. and personally 306 Main greets every visitor. After completing social amenities, Herbie retires to the shelter of a corner coffee table to nibble on some delicious drapes.
