Show Wednesday, April 3, 1 974 THE PARK CITY New Attendance Policy March 18, the Park City School Board adopted a new attendance policy on a trial basis. The policy became effective on March 25, the beginning of the fourth quarter of the school term. The new policy is as follows : 1. Students must make up one hour of time after school or on Saturday for every unexcused period missed and for all excused absences that exceed a total of twelve days. This make-u- p time will be under the supervision of a member of the High School faculty. Whenever make-u- p time is necessary, whether for an unexcused absence or an excused absence, make-u- p time required will be one hour for each period missed. 2. All absences must be made up and will also count as part of the twelve days of absences allowed each student. 3. A student receiving a total of three tardies must make up one hour of time. Once this time is made up, then three more tardies would constitute another hour of make-u- p time. 4. Students will be allowed to miss two days of school each year that will not be questioned by the school as long as these are cleared in advance by parents. These two days will, however, count as part of the twelve days maximum that any one student can miss before make-u- p time is required. On extra-curricul- un-excus- ed 5. If a student has to be called out of class to pick up his admit slip, he willb be given an ed tardy. Parents wishing to take their but the number of days used will count as part of the twelve days given to each student. For instance, if a student had already missed nine days of school for various reasons, and he missed five days for a family trip, making a total of fourteen days, he would have to make up two days. Family trips will be ap- proved only if one or both of the immediate parents accompanies the student and if it is approved in advance. 7. Students will be allowed two weeks to make up necessary time. If required time is not made k period, up during this the student involved will not be allowed to attend nor participate activities in any is until nis time made up. 8. All excused absences after a combined total of twelve absences have been reached by .a student, must be made up, and when made up will not jeopardize a student receiving his credits. 9. Absences as a result of school functions on or off campus will not be counted as part of the twelve absences a student is allowed. 10. A student failing to make up necessary time will appear before a committee composed of faculty members for a hearing concerning his status. In order for a student tareceive a hearing, he must first submit a letter explaining in detail the reasons for his excessive absences. 11. In order to receive a quarter's credit, a student must make up all necessary time by the end of the first two weeks of the next quarter or credits will be withheld. In the case of the last quarter of each yar (Spring quarter) all necessary time must be made up at the end of this quarter for a student to either graduate or receive his credits to advance him from say a Sophomore to a Junior, etc. children with them on a trip that involves school days may do so, ar In cases of serious extended illness, required time faculty. During this final quarter of the school term, a student will be allowed three days of excused absence, one of which will not be questioned so long as it is cleared in advance by parents.
