Show Wednesday, April 3, 1 974 THE PARK CITY Page 1 4 COALITION Town Clowns Make Rounds The Ringling Brothers, Bar-nuand Bailey Ski Club arrived in town on Sunday. March 31st. The sight of forty-nin- e clowns four hobos, a shah, and a ringmaster caused many a Saturday night party goer to swear off the bottle. The bodacious conglomerate of buffoonery was, in actuality, a band of lighthearted local m citizenry cavorting incognito. The costumed merriment was the brainchild of Jon Gates and was perpetrated under the direction of TYitu the Clown. The picture of Tutu in the Post Office was the name TerryJannott printed under it but whether its Tutu or Terry, congratulations are in order. The clowning around began at 9:00 a.m. at the Sirloin Saloon where the eccentric ensemble breakfasted on doughnuts and Bloody Marys. They were all Bozos on the bus as the Trolley Car 19 pulled up in front of the Resort Complex. The trolley disgorged its passengers and the many onlookers pondered the effects of thin air on the brain. Whose brain Im not savine. r W WWW WWW V WHAT TO DO? At the ticket office, GPCC, in an outstanding and gracious gesture, issued free lift tickets to those in costume who were not in possession of a seasons pass. After performing various antics on the slopes, and with the enthusiastic cry of, Who are those downs!?, ringing in their ears, the gay group (meaning happy gathering) rendezvoused at the Summit House for wine and chicken, catered by Tom Polk. Two of the brightly clad pranksters, Jay and Dick (OD McGee) Meehan, participated in the Media Medley competition. Late in the afternoon, a keg of beer was produced and the merry makers got juiced at the Sirloin Saloon, where it all began. Hours later the party was subjected to a whipped cream barrage from a Crepe and Fondue attack squad. Throughout the winter, there have been many clowns on the mountain but never have they been great in numbers, so easily recognized, or so thoroughly enjoyable. Fright wigs and rubber noses are off in salute to one of the highlights of the ski season.
