California has much to offer but the people pay a terrible the currency being frustration, headaches, and ulcers. Ron prefers the local relaxed atmosphere where the inhabitants have no time for hassles and work at being frienprice, dly. Ron also remarked that Park City is a practical and economical environment for the ski bum. Prices and rents are not exorbitant as yet. Ron has incorporated Park Citys history into his lifestyle by furnishing his apartment with Page 7 the art and beauty thats laying around." Born in Kansas City, Missouri, twenty-si- x years ago, Ron moved to Zuma Beach, California, at the age of six. While living in various places in California, he acquired a keen appreciation of the ocean in general and of surfing in par- ticular. Ron was attending California State College when a friend who had recently returned from Park City extolled its virtues. Consequently, in the winter of 1969, Ron, a weekend skier up to this point, journeyed to our town. He recalls that things were cheaper then as he and some friends paid dollars a month only sixty-fiv- e for a house on Woodside Avenue. The same house now rents monthly for one hundred and eighty-fiv- e dollars. Washing dishes for the Resort provided him with a seasons pass and food, and he paid only seventeen dollars a month rent, so his winter was not very expensive. Ron returned to California in the spring of 1970 in order to finish school and receive his in the China Bridge Rooms. He work in the Imperial Antique Slop for a room at the Imperial. He is also projecworking as a part-tim- e tionist at the Opera House to provide money for groceries. This arrangement allows him to ski everyday without having bills, the optimal situation for a dedicated ski bum. Ron has nothing but glowing praise for Park City. Its a friendly, open town and its people would put some Californians who think they are hip and together to shamfi. He feels fortunate to be currently trades part-tim- e NOW IN PROGRESS! Ron has spent five winters and segments of the intervening summers here. He resided in town for the majority of last summer but as in the past, the lure of surfing drew him to the coast, away from the hiking and fishing. Since coming to Park City, Ron has worked as a dishwasher, a busboy, and a ski binding adjuster and lived on Sandridge Road, on Woodside Avenue, and SPRUNG SMM SAIM mm 25 OFF POOL SANDWICHES COLD BEER WHERE ELSE?
