Show THE Wednesday, March 20, 1974 PARK CITY cornu Page 6 spied an owl shaped brass bell in San Francisco and the collection was born. At present, the owl assemblage contains approximately one hundred and twenty items ranging from pins and potholders to an owl hand made from Swedish Crystal. Each of these represents either a personal journey or a gift from friends who gave a hoot. Eleanors affection for collection is also responsible for the two hundred or so coke bottles housed in the Owl's Roost. Two and a half years ago, she discovered that the bottling origin could be found on the underside of each coke bottle. Its been bottoms up ever since. Lacking the space for the seven hundred and fifty possible locations of the newer bottles, the older embossed versions are now her specialty. PEOPLE! Still another collection of sorts is Eleanors Board of No Control'. This is a peg board upon which is attached the valuable and the ordinary. Among the appendages are a pair of brass knucles, an antique silver pencil, a toy skillet, and forty beer can openers, each from a different brewery. The fabulous history, the old houses, and the friendly people of Park City make Eleanor glad to be here. Although not opposed to sensible growth, Eleanor feels that ELEANOR BENNETT On June 9, 1969, Eleanor Bennett came to Park City to visit a friend. Exactly one year later, to the day, she became a permanent resident of our town. Bom in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Eleanor lived in Westchester County, New York (right outside of N.Y.C.) for twenty-fiv- e years before returning to Michigan. Preferring natures wonders to mans creations, Eleanor decided the West was best and her next move was to Park City where she has resided for the past four years. In November of 1970, Eleanor was asked to run the Park Record newspaper, which she did for two and a half years. Two weeks after leaving the Record, she was employed by the liquor store in Days Market, where she worked until the store was closed on February 28 of this year. Always active in community affairs and always glad to make new friends, Eleanor now works for the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Eleanors participation in community affairs is most strongly manifest by her affiliation with many safety-oriente- d programs and projects. In 1969, she was named Miss Safety of the Year for the state of Michigan and is currently State Safety Chairwoman for the Utah Federation of Womens Clubs. The Bennett home is known as The Owls Roost and ap- propriately so. Eleanor un- doubtedly possesses the largest collection of owl oriented items in the city and possibly even in the state. She collects all types of of owl related objects except the live variety. This bent for owlishness began when Eleanor purchased a teakwood owl with turquoise eyes as a souvenir from Carmel, California.
