The UTAH LAND USE BILL The Utah Land Use Bill is supposedly only a planning bill. In reading the bill, its strength planning. This bill would create a Land Use Commission, which in coordination with the Federal Government, would direct the use of all land in Utah, public and QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Last Sunday was a typical day in Park City, Concerned citizens were doing the cities work by cleaning far-surpass- and washing Main Street. People throughout town were g business of kids cleaning their yards. The was at a winter high. All of the activity of a nice Sunday bottle-findin- was covered by our now famous Park City Smog the dump was burning all day. However, the smog from the dump did not cover the remains of burnt and fallen buildings on Main Street. Park City has many larger problems than the dump and fallen buildings, yet all problems deserve conelected city officials have sideration. All of our specific areas and problems for which they are responsible. Each has a demanding occupation. However, the people of our community deserve answers as to what is being done to solve all problems large and small. The form of a City Council meeting, Board of Education meeting, or Planning Commission meeting, does not supply answers. Some of our elected officials have promised question and answer sessions. This has not been done. All of our city officials should be willing to organize a set period of time for nothing but questions and answers. This should include our mayor, city councilmen, planning commission, school superintendant, and school principals. -- es private. tax-pai- d, Salt Lake Citys funnest bar & finest steaks are at snowbird snowbird Denim is still going strong, of course, but the fabric to watch is especially as the corduroy denim supply dwindles. Other fabrics which are going to be seen are poplin, ticking, and twill in looser jackets, easy skirts and parpants for day, long skirts ticularly the tiered, pleated cottons for evening. One of the most important combinations is going to be the sun-to- p under a voile shirt, with pants or shorts for day and, perhaps, a long skirt for evening. In corduroy for early Spring. For those into the do-i- t: yourself scene, the latest craze is decorating and painting your own designs on sportswear. This latest trend developed, of course, from the blue denim craze, which is currently so popular. The difference is that now you can buy a ready-mad- e kit, produced by the famous art supply manufacturer, Grumbacher, Inc., that will permit machine washability and dryability. The only problem is going to be the selection of the right fabric for painting. Other than that, the lf trip promises . to be THE thing in junior spor- - f tswear this'Spring and Summer.. The bill defines land as earth, water, and air, above, below, or on the surface, and includes anv improvements or structures customarily regarded as such. The bill uses the words The Commission shall. By using the word shall, ultimate power is given to the Commission. The bill gives the Commission control over all land, Indian reservations not withstanding. This is in violation of existing treaties with Indian nations in the State of Utah. (Here we go again! ) The Commission is Sections of the bill tie the Commission directly to the Federal Government. The bill seems to directly violate Article VI Section 28 of the Constitution The legislature shall not of the State of Utah delegate to any special commission, private corporation or association, any power to make, supervise or interfere with, any municipal improvement, money, property or effects, whether held in trust or otherwise, to levy taxes, to select a capitol site or to perform any municipal function .
