However, in comparing season with last the 74-7- 5 year, there is a marked difference nobody in the West has snow. Greater Park City Vice Bob Wells takes some comfort in this fact. Commenting on lost business due to lack of snow and the President subsequent of the delayed opening Resort at Mr. Wells said, We hope we dont lose any money on the basis that there isnt anyplace else for anyone to go.1 Continuing on the comparision, Mr. Wells remarked, Colorado had no snow last Thanksgiving, and was our business up Thanksgiving, dramatically. Then Aspen had a record January, so that lost business came back. Hopefully, the same thing will happen here." Even with the possibility of open for Thanksgiving and only the third time in 40 years Thanksgiving Director of Mountain Phil Jones Operations related to Communications Director Dale Zabriskie that th Resort is not just a few indies away from opening but needs a major snowfall. Mr. their recouping losses throughout the season, the Resort is looking at a loss Last of year, the Resort pulled in of worth $350,000 business. Thanksgiving Based on the period of $125,000-$150,00- 0. November 28th to December 1st, lift revenue totaled $215,000; Ski School $20,000; Food and Beverage $50,000; and Condominium rentals $50,000. As there is no way to plan for no snow, the only thing left is to wait for it.One must be optimistic or you wouldn't come to a place like this, said Mr. Wells. The lack of snow for this area is time rare it is the first the Resort has been unable to that old-time- being no snow recall there at this time. Jones described the mountain as looking like the middle of October. Fortunately, said Mr. Wells, the Resort isnt fully cranked up as yet, so it doesn't have to suffer the full cost burden it would if it were open." Added to the Resort's worries is the possibility of losing employees who are n hired on a basis. Currently, about 120 miners are creating drifts, or ar horizontal connections, behind the mine tunnels, and raises which link several levels of the mine. When the mill (or concentrator) and mine are finished, the development will employ approximately 350 minersome of whom will come from Canada to work in the old On- tario mine. The Mill will run seven days a week on a three-shif- t basis. It is expected to mine will extract 1,000 tons of crude ore a day. Mine Superintendent James Comer says that the company is hard pressed to complete the two facilities by the April 15th production deadline, but he feels that they will open on schedule. He said that the mine should be one of the most comfortable for miners to work in with a steady temperature of 55 degrees.
