W 500,000 Gallons The 500,000 gallon storage tank, which is fed by the Judge Tunnel water source, became operational on Monday. It will provide the city with a backup capability for the present time but will become a primary water retention facility when dictated by the citys growth. umoTED AiRLin The Coalition will reach new heights this week. Since our inception, we have set our goals high, and this issue marks the fruition of one of our loftiest ambitions. Beginning today, November 20th, our newspaper will be a regular passenger on United Air Lines ski flights departing from San Francisco. Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, and New York( Kennedy Airport ) to Salt Lake City. Two thousand copies per week will d be distributed to skiers as they board United flights in these cities. Coalition editor Kerry Bolton first approached United almost ten months ago with the thought of placing our newspaper on flights destined for Salt Lake City. Mr. Norm Rasmussen, United's Passenger Service Manager in S.L.C., then nurtured the idea and gave the project impetus. Upon finalization of the agreement, Mr. Rasmussen said, We are happy to offer Utah ski information to our passengers and we are delighted that we can use the Coalition to serve this purpose. United is a leader in western skier service. Transporting just under 70 percent of western U.S. skiers, United Theriot and Spiro Although now filled by the Judge Tunnel, as are the city's other two reservoirs, the new reservoir system has the capability of utilizing the Theriot Spring water and is designed to provide Spiro Tunnel water when the size of the city warrants it. Theriot Pump If the Judge Tunnel should, for some reason, be eliminated as a water source, a pump station located on the GPCC golf course will automatically begin filling the new reservoir with Theriot water. Buried Despite its 500,000 gallon capacity, the 5400,000 project is not visible to the observer. The tank is buried underground and a ski run will, at some future date, be cut over the reservoir.
