The main subjects that came up for discussion was the possible solution of having the weeds between the highway and the sidewalk along Highway 91 running through Orem cleaned up. It was reported that the city fathers were checking or dinances to determine just who was responsible for getting this job done. It was decided that new businesses opening up In Orem during the remainder re-mainder of 1959 would be given an membership for the remainder of the year. The Chamber will sponsor the "Goddess of Flowers Float' in the coming celebration. celebra-tion. Work Is progressing on the construction of new signs for Orem, it was reported by President John Huish. The Orem Chamber of Com merce secretary Edv. Paving of West Center Street Runs Into Snag Hopes for the early paving of Center Street from State Street to 800 West were apparently ap-parently stifled by protests from three property owners on the street, it was learned at City Council meeting Monday night. The project. Involving fron tage of 10,640 feet, drew pro tests from Lamar Farley, re- presenting 660 feet, Don Clayton, Clay-ton, representing 1320 feet, and John A. Fowers, repre senting 1320 feet. Although it would legally take opposition from property owners representing two-thirds two-thirds of the frontage to kill the improvement, Mr. Fowers pointed out a flaw in the legal description set out in the for mal Notice of Intention which he claimed nullified the partl- three cular Improvement specified for Center Street.
