Mrs. Thelma Young, Sharon ward Relief Society work director, direct-or, represented Orem at the annual an-nual conference of the USAC Extension Service in Logan last week- Other ladies from Utah county who attended the four-day four-day leadership meet were Margaret Mar-garet Bromley and Melba Healy of American Fork, Nellie Larson Lar-son of Spanish Fork. Etta Jones of Springville and Velyn Stevens, Stev-ens, county home demonstration agent. Classwork an J lectures gave information and instruction in Consumer Education, Textiles and Clothing and Nutrition, as well as farm prospects and family fam-ily living. Discussions were conducted between classes. The ladies stayed at the USAC Rural Arts building and ate their meals at the college cafeteria. cafet-eria. They enjoyed attending the MIA meeting on Tuesday evening. Classes on textiles included discussions of new fabrics, sewing sew-ing equipment and supplies and pattern alteration and fitting. Consumer education sessions dealt with buying habits of consumers, con-sumers, problems in buying food and the effects of advertis ing on buying habits- Bulletins on nutrition'' and preparing of meals were distriuted. A highlight of the conference was an illustrated lecture, "A Trip to Europe with Ada and Lyman Rich." Mr. Rich, USAC extension dairyman, showed several sev-eral hundred slides showing farms, dairy herds and homes in Europe. Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Young met with the Orem stake Relief Society work directors today, Thursday, at the home of Mrs-Milton Mrs-Milton Holdaway to report on the leadership classes they attended at-tended in Logan. Stratton-Clegg -Wedding Planned (For Januray 25 A temple ceremony on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, January 25, will solemnize solemn-ize the marriage of Nina Stratt-on, Stratt-on, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James G- Stratton and Floyd Clegg. The couple will be married in the Salt Lake LDS temple and will be honored on the following evening at a reception at the Vermont-Orem First ward hall, 4th North and 4th East in Orem. Miss Stratton is a graduate of Lincoln high schiol and a senior student at the BYU. Mr. Clegg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Clegg of Vineyard- He is also a graduate of Lincoln high school and is attending BYU- He returned re-turned recently from an LDS mission to Western Canada. They couple will make their home in Vineyard. DUP. Members Hold January Meeting Ina Lewis and Norma Ashton were co-hostesses at the meeting meet-ing of the Pleasant View DUP held at the Lewis home. Nora Ashton gave the lesson "The early Schools in Utah" and Diantha Ekins read a history of the early settlement of Provo Bench, written by herself. Ida Ercanbrack gave a reading. "Preserving our Pioneer Arts, and Customs" was the theme or the program presented under, the direction of Mrs. Frank B. Woffinden. Mrs. J- D. Pyne read the litany. Mrs. Thorval Rigby arranged the musical program which included solos by Lovena Rowley, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Baker. I Mrs. Woffinden displayed a pioneer quilt and related stories 'about the Utah Pioneers as they j crossed the plans and settled in their new home. Mrs. L. S. May-cock May-cock showed a number of Pion-ieer Pion-ieer souvenirs and costumes and I told the history of each one. Mrs. C. E. Weeks. Jr. read from a book of poems and stories which was brought across the plains by the Pioneers. Mrs-Jerry Mrs-Jerry Buckley and Mrs. Maud Tidd displayed pioneer relics and fancywork.
