LIfS CAMPUS CHATTER By Janet Wilkinson Although the new year is already al-ready 8 days old, it isn't too lf te to make another resolution to support Lincoln's basketball team. The regular league play begins on January 16 when the Tigers meet the Pleasant Grove Vikings there. Coach Baugh has stated many times that it nieans i great deal to the boys to know that not only the student body, but also the residents of Orem ire behind them. The Tigers have shown their 'ntention to become region champs cha-mps by downing 5 of the 7 teams j. Did you get to enjoy the ;'ri-trras concert put on by the ! ::arKT'Tf you didn't, you missed r;c:d chance to get acquainted ! with the band members and their ; enthusiastic director, Mr. Barry. 3!r te coming to Lincoln a couple j of years ago, Wes Barry has : w oi ked energetically and tire-I tire-I ca'.y to make our band one of j he finest in the state. Students took ;ieat delight in seeing who ! could pitch the most nickles and ! 'dimes into the horn. Money was ,'!so solicited from the different j home rooms in exchange for musical entertainment. The goal. I reached by the band that year for the purchase of new instru- ments was a "mile of pennies." j Right now, the band is discus-, sing ways and means of raising money for new uniforms. Just leave it up to the band and Mr. Barry to discover another novel way to raise funds! Organizaton of the "Orem Band Boosters" is just another of the many recent accomplish--ments the band has made. This group is composed of parents, students and all Orem residents interested in promoting the band for service in the school and community. Hats off to Mr. Barry Bar-ry and the band. Rehearsals are underway this week for several Lincoln thes-pians thes-pians who have been selected for roles In' the 3-act comedy, "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay." The hilarious true-life story of Cornelia Otis Skinner is slated to be presented in S weeks. L. L. Terry is directing the play, assi sted by Arlene Hall and Alene Miller, student directors.
