Everything is in readiness for the presentation of the three-act play Aunt Samathy Rules the Roost, sponsored by the MIA. Two performances will be staged, stag-ed, a matinee Monday afternoon and Tuesday evening in the ward hall. The cast includes Ella Hebertson, Marilyn ZabriskSe, Pauline Gammon, Grace Holda-way, Holda-way, Marjorie Harding, Sylvia Holdaway. Ray Holdaway, Le- Grande Bunker, Vern Williams, Richard Davia. Mrs. Phyllis Wells is the director. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Orvin and daughter Marcia moved into their new home during the week. They have been living in Edgemont. LEGAL NOTICE ORDINANCE NO. 119 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE OWNING, KEEPING OR HARBORING OF DOGS WITHIN OREM CITY, AND FOR THE LICENSING OF THE OWNING, KEEPING OR HARBORING HAR-BORING OF SUCH DOGS WITHIN OREM CITY AND PROVIDING PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE ORDINANCE AND REPEAL ING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES ORDIN-ANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. HERE-WITH. DOGS B IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF OREM CITY: Section One: That the Mayor, by and with the consent of the City Council, may appoint some suitable and competent person to the office of Dog Tax Collector, Coll-ector, who shall qualify in the manner provided by law, and shall hold such office for such term, and shall receive such compensation as may be determined deter-mined by the City Council. Section Two. It shall be un lawful for any person to own, keep, or harbor any dog within the corporate limits of Orem City without first having made application to the Dog Tax Collector Col-lector and procuring a license so to do. This Section shall include every ev-ery dog which shall be three months old or over at any time during the calendar year. Section Three: Every person run at large between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. and during said period between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. shall keep all of said dogs, spaded spad-ed females, and bitches that he owns confined on the owners premises. Section Five: Application for and payment of such license tax called for by Section Three, shall be made to the Dog Tax Collector, who shall, upon receipt re-ceipt of the license tax prescribed, prescrib-ed, register the name of the person, per-son, together with a description of the dog or bitch, and shall file the same with the City Recorder, Re-corder, and he shall deliver to such person a certificate of registry. Section Six: Every dog, spaded spad-ed female, or bitch so licensed shall wear upon its neck a suitable suit-able collar with a metallic label or check attached, which label or check shall be furnished by the City and upon which shall be legibly stamped the number corresponding with the certifi cate of the tax license, and all dogs not licensed and collared as herein provided shall be liable to be killed the same as unlicensed dogs; and the police or any Dog Tax Collector is authorized to kill, or cause to be killed all dogs not licensed and collared as herein provided Section Seven: It shall be the duty of the Dog Tax Collector, as soon as practicable after the first day of January of each and every year, to take up all dogg found running at large upon which the license tax has not been paid, or running at owning, keeping or harbo.-ing, large and not confined betwseen or navmg in ciiarge any uuS, . the hours rT 7-nn spaded female, or bitch withm the corporate limits of Orem City shall pay to Orem City an annual license tax of Two Dollars Dol-lars for every such dog or spaded female and Five Dollars for every such bitch, which license li-cense tax shall exempt the dog so licensed for the calendar year during which such license is issued. If the owner of any such dog so taken up is not known and cannot be ascertained as aforesaid, the said Dog Tax Collector shall -duse 10 De published in a newspaper news-paper having circulation within the limits of Orem City, a notice not-ice setting forth the fact that he has in his possession said dog or dogs and decribing said dog or dog as to sex, color, markings, approximate height, approximate weight, type of breed, and setting forth that said dog or dogs will be destroyed des-troyed if not claimed and the license fee paid within a period of seventy-two hours from the date of publication of said notice. not-ice. ' Section Eight: It shall be unlawful un-lawful for any person to deprive a registered dog of its collar, or to put a registered tag on any dog not registered and licensed li-censed as herein provided Section Nine: it shall be unlawful un-lawful for any parson to kill or cause to be killed, any dog licensed as herein provided without the consent of the owner own-er or possessor thereof, except as herein provided. Section Eleven: All monies collected by the Dog Tax Collector Col-lector shall be paid by him into the City Treasury monthly. . Section Twelve: The Dog Tax Collector shall report to the City Council and shall file such report with the City Recorder monthly showing all taxes collected coll-ected and all dogs killed by him during the preceding month and shall submit his bill for services, which report and bill shall be verified by his affidavit. Section Thirteen: It shall be unlawful for any owner, keer er or person in charge of any dog. to intentionally permit said dog to enter or remain In any place of public worship during religious services. Section Fifteen: Any person violating any of the provisions of th's ordinance, or owning, keeping or harboring any dog or bitch or sDaded fpmaio nith. in the limits of Orem Cltv. with. out registering or paying the license li-cense tax thereon as provided in this Ordinance, or by permitting said dog, spaded female, or bitch to run at large and not be confined con-fined between the hours of 7:00 oclock p.m. and 7:00 o'clock, a.m.. Or bv Dermittincr o fina or bitch having a kennel license io run at large for any period in excess of three hours, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall bp finwi in any sum not less than $5.00 nor more than $50.00 or by imprisonment im-prisonment for a term of not less than two days nor more than twenty-five days, o by both fine and imprisonment. Any other remedy provided for in this ordinance shall be considered consid-ered as cumulative and the penalty pen-alty herein provided shall be considered to cover any violation violat-ion of this ordinance. Section Sixteen: In the opinion opin-ion of the City Council it is deemed necessary to the preservation preser-vation of the health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of Orem City that this should take effect immediately upon its passage and publication for the reason that a large number num-ber of dogs Within Orem City are permitted to run at large and there is, and has been, some uncertainty as to the validity and efficacy of the ordinance heretofore passed, and that it is necessary to the preservation of the health and safety and welfare of the citizens of Orem City that such uncertainty should be ended. Section Seventeen: Ail ordinances, ordin-ances, or parts of ordinances, in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. Section Eighteen: It is further furth-er ordained that this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and publication as herein provided. Section Nineteen: This ordinance ordin-ance shall be published once in the Orem-Geneva Times, a newspaper of general circulat ion m Orem City. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Hebertson, Hebert-son, Fern Hills and Mr. and Mrs. Wiliam Rawlings attended fun-ral fun-ral services for Heber Thacker held in Heber City. Mr. Hebertson Hebert-son was one of the speakers at the funeral.
