Ogden Valley CERT has moved all of its emergency and medical supplies into the unit. The steel unit is rodent proof, and now makes available supplies when needed for any emergency. After searching for many months, and appealing to many landowners, a special thanks is extended to the Eden Park Board for allowing the CERT storage unit to be placed at the park. This location is obscure from view, and is located across from the County Sheriff’s Office for security. It is centrally located and accessible year around. New Monument Dedicated at Stoney Point on Historic Pioneer Trail By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Staff A new monument was erected and dedicated on October 16 at Stoney Point, which overlooks the northwest end of Ogden Valley along the path of the historic Pioneer Trail—the route settlers used when first entering Ogden Valley in the early 1850’s. Stewart Radmall from the Ogden Pioneer Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers; Dr. Brian K. Smith, principal representing property owners where the new monument is located; and Keith W. Wilcox, architect who designed the newly erected monument, were on hand to dedicate the monument. The approximately four mile long Pioneer Trail, that begins in North Ogden, also provides a connecting link to a portion of the Great Western Trail that is currently being developed in the Western United States as a National Recreational Trail between Canada and Mexico. The western segment of the old Pioneer Trail now has a developed trailhead just north of the mouth of Coldwater Canyon in North Ogden below the North MONUMENT cont. on page 3 Nordic Residents Asked to Participate in Fuel Reduction Program By Shanna Francis the area can increase the chance of their home surviving a wildfire in this densely wooded, bench area of the Valley. In all instances, the parents were unaware of the criminal activities being conducted by their children. If you have children living at your address, we will appreciate your discussing with them the inconvenience, worry and monetary loss that can be experienced by patrons who have had their mail receptacle damaged and/or mail taken. Please explain to them the seriousness of such an offense as this. A copy of this letter has been delivered to each postal customer who has a mailbox located in your neighborhood with the hope that, as a result of action taken by parents, this type of offense does not reoccur.
