Yet they are the most economically disadvantaged group in the nation. During these times of staying at home, looking inward, reflecting on our lives and reassessing what is important, one thing rises to the surface—be of service. Our Native American communities have suffered disproportionately for centuries. Repairing the history of this is part of the call to be of service. Today our Native American communities and their elders are in a constant struggle for survival—for clean water, food, firewood, etc. Add to that COVID-19 and the challenges it brings. Recent CDC studies show “American Indian and Alaska Native people have suffered a disproportionate burden of COVID-19 illness during the pandemic” (CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, M.D.). Especially for the native elderly, this is a crisis. Art on the Lawn is how we can be of service. For this reason Wilkerson Fine Art has donated paintings, sculpture, glass, and antiques to Adopt-A-Native-Elder Nonprofit. One hundred percent of the sales go to the nonprofit. A bargain for the art lover… a Godsend for our native elders. Let us all come together, focus on creating awareness not blame, and be part of the solution to help bring balance to all our communities and relations. The event will be held Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at an Art on the Lawn Sale from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day at 7238 E. Highway 39, in Huntsville Utah. Social distancing and masks are required. Huntsville hosted its first ever Cyclekart Race, and it was tremendous fun for participants and residents alike. A Cyclekart is a type of gokart. Competitors drive in single-seat cars to resemble race cars from the early 1900s. They have a vintage look and are handmade by their drivers. Competitors take great pride in designing and building their cars. They are lightweight, made from scrap metal or wood products, and have a small engine motor. The cost of building a Cyclekart is no more than $2000. It was this simple appeal of a vintage car built by its driver and the vision of driving through the historic town of Huntsville that caught the attention of Huntsville Town Mayor Jim Truett and Town Council Members in February 2020. Kelly Wood, a resident of Salt Lake and Cyclekart owner, approached the Town of Huntsville with a proposal for a race through the historic town of Huntsville. Wood calls the Cyclekart Race “the last gentleman’s race” where aggressive driving and fellowship between drivers encouraged. He stated that drivers were proud of Great Harvest Bread will set their cars and up weekly in Huntsville at the everyone was American Legion Wednesdays welcome to 12:30-3:00 p.m. and in Eden join the sport; however, Huntsville Town’s council members at Burton Dental from 3:15-5:30 p.m. We will were cautious in committing to another event. have loaves, dry mixes, cookies, & spreads Many seek the valley for its beauty, but the to go with your breads like whipped honey, multiple events can be taxing upon Valley residents.
