Jessica’s past credits include Bright Star (Alice) at DaVinci Academy, Peter Pan (Tiger Lily) at UFOMT, and The Little Mermaid (Ariel) at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Jess was named Best Actress at the UHSMTA and made her Broadway debut at 15 with the 2017 Jimmy Awards. She stated that she’d like to thank her parents for building her a Neverland to grow up in! The Monarch Hosts Celebration of Art & Music Preceding Twilight Concert Series in Downtown Ogden The Monarch, Ogden’s newest epicenter for arts and events, contributes to the city’s downtown draw this summer as it teams up with the growing Ogden Twilight music series. As an official Twilight sponsor, The Monarch is hosting Pre-Concert Celebrations before each Twilight show featuring local artists, music, food, and beverage vendors. These Pre-Concert Celebrations take place between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. at The Monarch building preceding the headlining act at Ogden Twilight just a few blocks away at the downtown amphitheater. Attendees are asked to pay a $5 entry donation that directly benefits Ogden First (O1ARTS), supporting local arts initiatives. In turn, guests receive tickets for food and non-alcoholic drinks, and are eligible to win raffles for Twilight tickets and other prizes. The following partners will be present at each pre-concert event: Monarch Creative Studio Members: The Monarch’s creative space opens this September with studios for artists and makers of all types, from painting and photography to glass making and letterpress printing, and more. Various studio members will be in attendance with their work, offering demonstrations and art for sale. Indie Ogden Magazine: Indie Ogden has been a volunteer-run community resource for the last decade and has recently taken their efforts a step further in publishing a print magazine. The Ogden Twilight Pre-Concert events at The Monarch act as Indie Ogden’s monthly Open Valley Open Market: Keeping it fresh, local, and fun! By Natalie Quinn The Open Market season is officially underway! The first market took place July 12 and boasted a diverse selection of vendors from which to choose. Need to beat the heat? Frost Fairies Snow Cones are available for sale and are sold in a variety of flavors (some of which are organic). Need fresh vegetables that support local farmers and keep your table a little more natural? OVOM has lots of vendors, including Better Food Farm and Patio Springs Gardens, which sell crisp herbs and vegetables from basil to broccoli. The Orchard quickly sold out of her fresh-picked cherries! And to finish out the well-rounded nature of goods at the open market, art stalls containing goods that span from traditional paintings and sketches to etched wood carvings, are on hand with vendors selling their wares to any who might need a little color in their life. In addition to the various wares you can buy at Ogden Valley Open Market, you can also enjoy a wonderful evening of live music. Playing August 1 is Ashberry Jam (ashleymayberry.com/ashberry-jam), a country rock-’nroll duo that is sure to keep the night lively. On August 8, Scotty Haze and his wife MJ, an Americana country duo, will serenade the eve- ning away with their original music and covers of their favorite songs. On August 15, Kelso and McWilliams (Facebook.com/KelsoMcWilliamsMusic/) will be performing covers of the best songs from a variety of genres. Be sure to sing along to the OVOM live music performances and stick around to hear all your favorite songs. In addition to vendors and live music, on August 15, OVOM will host a special event known as “What I Want to Be.” This event provides children and young adults the opportunity to interact and pose questions to professionals in their field of interest. It is a great opportunity for anyone who doesn’t quite know what they want to be and is looking for more information about professions of interest. Present at the “What I Want to Be” event will be career choices such as veterinarians, doctors, and more. So don’t miss this special event, which is a great opportunity to tap into first-hand information on all sorts of career choices. In addition, come by for a chance of winning prizes from the drawings during the evening’s wrap-up! As always, Open Market takes place from 5:30 p.m. ‘til dusk every Thursday into September at the shared parking lot of Diamond Peak Mountain Sports and the Mad Moose Cafe. New World Distillery: Local craft distillery from Ogden Valley will shake up two signature cocktails for each event. With your $5 entry donation, guests also have the opportunity to win a private tour and tasting at New World Distillery for up to twenty people, a $500 value. Zucca Italian Restaurant: Zucca, a local Ogden favorite on 25th Street, will sponsor a bar with take away desserts, wine, beer and nonalcoholic drinks. The Banyan Collective: Music is provided by Ogden’s arts & adventure podcasters, The Banyan Collective, who are soon to be based in The Monarch’s creative studios and whose #TanVan hosts First Friday Van Sessions on the Upper Deck.
