Heat Contributes to Buckling of I-15 during Rush Hour: Traffic redirected to Legacy Parkway On Tuesday, July 23, many commuters were caught up in a traffic nightmare after what UDOT Region One Communications Manager Vic Saunders called “a heat-buckling situation.” The buckling occurred on I-15 northbound at Parrish Lane at about 3:30 p.m., causing major traffic congestion. UDOT closed three of the five northbound lanes on I-15, and opened Legacy Parkway to all traffic. Those lanes were left open until about 7:30 p.m. According to reports by UDOT, traffic was lined up as much as five miles after the incident. On Scene were Highway Patrol, Incident Management Technicians, and Centerville UDOT Maintenance Station crews. The event was categorized as a Level 2 incident. This year marks 25 years in business for Brian Keith and his company Envision Homes Inc. For a quarter of a century, Brian has built quality custom homes, using his skills as a builder to serve homeowners in the Northern Utah area. For the last 15 years, he has lived in Eden, building homes in Ogden Valley. To help meet the needs of his homeowners, Brian has created an office environment that is comfortable and inviting. He is able to provide design ideas, samples, and resources to assist homeowners in their decision-making process. Building a new home is a very personal undertaking and Brian is skilled at guiding his clients every step of the way to the successful completion of their new home. As an expression of gratitude to homeowners, sub contractors, suppliers and the community, Brian invites all to celebrate with him at his 5th-annual Summer BBQ. There will be great food, Zeppe’s Italian ice, live music, and fun for everyone. Please join Brian and his staff at his Eden office Thursday, August 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the back patio at the Old Town Eden Professional Building, 2234 N. 5500 E., Eden. The BBC4 is essentially the house band for Jazz at the Station. JATS Co-producer, Benjamin Jennings, brings together a core group of jazz friends and occasional guests to bring a pleasant and entertaining hour of music to our friendly jazz audiences. Benjamin Jennings has been playing jazz bass, guitar, and drums since he met Joe McQueen. His BBC3, BBC4, and BBC5 performances represent the number of musicians in each group. Don Keipp is the retired WSU Jazz Ensemble Director and current drummer for the Legendary Joe McQueen Quartet. Shannon Roberts has been the WSU Jazz Ensemble Director and WSU Director of Bands. He is a total artist, teacher and entertainer. Jim Schaub is the only “outsider,” coming from Logan, where he teaches orchestra and guitar in the Cache County School District. These folks charged up our JATS audience when they played this winter. You can expect to be equally enthused. Children are welcome as long as they do not disturb the performers or other audience members. Come early to get your favorite seat on the Plaza. Jazz at the Station often performs for standing-room-only audiences. Jazz at the Station is sponsored by the Union Station Foundation and WSU Alumni Jazz; and grants from R.A.M.P. and Ogden City Arts. They are also sustained by donations from their monthly jazz audiences.
