It was the last scheduled fall game for the boy’s U-12 division in Huntsville. It was a showdown between Vern Iverson’s Fireballs (aka the Tomatoes), entirely to snow, and at times it was difficult to see the players through the giant falling flakes. At the game’s end, the score was tied. Remember, this team was in the 2006 Mitey Mite division last year. The players had a phenomenal record in 2006 of 5-2 regular season record, and an overall 6-3 record after two weeks of post season playoffs. Our team didn’t have one 12 year old, and the largest athlete weighed only 140 lbs. But the team toughened up to the challenge, played their hearts out, and finished only one win away from the playoffs.
