Letters to the Editor There’s a Lot of Great People in the Valley On Tuesday, February 10, I went outside to shovel a path to my car. Our driveway had not been plowed since the big snowstorm the day before, and I needed to scrape the snow off my car in preparation for a trip to Ogden. Not a minute later, along came a man from the construction site across the street from my home with a snowblower in tow. I told him he didn’t need to worry about it because my dad would take care of it with his tractor. He replied by saying, “We have a tractor too.” The next thing I knew, a small tractor was plowing out our little driveway and the man with the snowblower cleared our sidewalk. I was just sorry I didn’t get a chance to say “thank you” or ask for their names. I hope that this letter of thanks will reach them somehow. The owner of the construction company where they were working lives in our little Valley. Maybe he could give them a high five for being such great people. It is little acts like these that make my day and remind me that there are a lot of great people in this world—especially in this valley. Carly Wilson Farnsworth, Eden Eden Family Thanks Community, Asks for Support for School Project This past holiday season brought a special reason for our family to give thanks and to celebrate. I have recently completed almost nine months of surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation for bladder cancer that was detected last March. Many of you know of this event in our lives and some of you may not. However, we are thrilled that this phase of treatments is over, and that we can now resume a more normal life. We have been more than blessed by the prayers, faith, and love shown to us by so many of you. It has helped make this unexpected and sometimes difficult journey much more bearable. We thank all of you and bless you for your thoughtfulness and concern. Hopefully, neither you nor any one that you hold dear will have to go through this type of ordeal. One way we are celebrating is to help build a school in the Philippines. Our friend Alberto Bulseco teaches elementary in a very poor area of Luzon Island. With $25,000 he can build a new wing onto their school that will house a library, resource center, and new classrooms with electricity! We currently have $7,000 toward this great project. All donations are tax deductible. If you are interested in helping with our celebration, please note the following information found below about Alberto, and how to contact The United Way for a contribution. In being grateful for what we have, we are more able to cope with what may come. We love you all and thank you for being a part of our lives. Thank you for kindly considering this wonderful project.
