Show Second Section SECTION Second Section t OGDEN CITY Glories of the Past Residents Ask Action On Sanitation WASHINGTON TERRACE— Immediate action on the solution of sewer and sanitation problems south of the Terrace was requested last night by a large number of residents attending a zoning meeting Robert D Tucker According-tdirector of the Weber county planning staff establishment of a sewer district and installation of a water system is the solution State and county health officials revealed earlier that recent water sanitation checks indicated 60 percent of the homes in the area are using contaminated well water Can Petition Robert Pinney of the state board of health and Linn C Baker county health inspector told the group they could petition that a sewer district be established forHhe area The petition j they said would be directed to the Washington Terrace Housing corporation and Ogden City The discovery of contamination is to bring an order halting expected 11 building in the area until a pure water system is installed A check of wells in the area is If being conducted until spring they continue to reveal contamination home construction will be suspended The contamination reportedly results from cellpools and septic tanks in the area which drain into the same surface water that is being pumped into the homes for culinary purposes Last night's meeting was called by the county planning commission and was held in the Terrace Community building Approximately 40 residents attended These ineluded members of the South Ogden planning commission and the town board Purpose of the meeting was to consider proposed amendments to the zoning map and ordinance for the Terrace and southeast section of the county Zoning Approved Zoning as now recommended meets with the genera! approval of property owners present it was reported Two requests were made for additional commercial zoning west of the Terrace Residents south of the Terrace also expressed a desire for raising fowls and animals which would be Pnitted in limited numbers according to the recommendations '"d? McKay of the L D S church and President H Aldous Dixon of the college will be Mr Annie B Moench Widow of the founder of Weber college Louis Frederick Moench Mrs Moench is 92 years old and resides with her daughter Mrs Walter R Davis 2769 Tyler She wouldn't miss it for the world on "Weber day" if her health permits Mrs Moench said A native of Ogden where she was born July 15 1860 Mrs Moench was married to Mr Moench at the Salt Lake endowment house April 24 1883 by President Joseph F Smith of the L D S church She was 23 years old at the time By then Weber stake academy as the college was then known was a going concern Annie had been a pupil there under Mr Moench Before her and after her graduationmarriage she also taught school at Harrisville at Madison school in Ogden and at Central school now occupied by the Ogden Elks club She was a daughter of Richard Ballantyne who founded the first L D S Sunday school was an early settler of Weber county and at one time published the Ogden active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers But Mrs Moench doesn't live In the past She keeps up with the news of the day and closely follows the proposed expansion plans of Weber college She also likes to She made her first airplane fly flight at the age of 80 and from then on that has been the only mode of long distance travel for her "I'd rather travel by air than any other way" Mrs Moench said ''It's so much faster than land travel and there isn't that long grind" In addition to her Mrs Davis Mrs Moenchdaughter has another daughter Mrs Reed Sumner Davis and a son Wilfred B Moench both
