you for your letter relative to problems facing the veteran and your chapter's support of a low-co- st housing program I am glad to have an expression of the views of your membership "The housing bill is designed to help solve the housing situation I appeared before the committee in support of this legislation and I believe it will help to alleviate the situation" New Yorker View Sen Irving M Ives (New York) in his message pointed out: "As I have indicated in the past I strongly favor every appropriate effort to stimulate new housing whether that effort be by the government or by private undertaking "Serious criticism has been directed against some of the provisions in the senate bill now under consideration It is expected that the cause for these criticisms will be eliminated by necessary amendment I am hoping that this matter may be satisfactorily adjusted in order that it may receive the earliest possible senate action "In fairness to you however I should point out that nothing before the congress can in any way promise early available housing Any program which may be undertaken must face the difficulties attendant upon construction itself which is the real problem now confronting every program which has been housing undertaken or is contemplated" Petition Filed Latest report from Chat Pater-so- n A V C national legislative representative reveals that Helen
