A sample of ore taken, from this claim ran by the discoverer, John Tilford, 70 . 28 ounces of gold and S15 . 1 ounces of silver, which gives the ore a value of $2267.78 a ton. The Rex claim, where the original discovery was made by Tilford, is located about thirteen claims' length north of the claims now being worked by the Millick brothers, on which they have sunk a shaft to a depth of about seventy-fiv- e feet. The claims follow a ledge, and samples taken from the several claims all show good values in silver, with some gold. The claims are located between McCoy and Bassett creeks, with three other creeks crossing the location, The discovery was made by Tilford while prospecting north of the locations. He picked up a piece of rock in which the specks of gdL'could be plainly seen, and he then put in about two days looking for the mineral in place. Finding a likely looking place he walked, back to the Millick camp, secured a drill and some powder and put in a shot, with ths result shown by a panful of rock, making a load as heavy as one man could manage to pack down the hill, which he brought to th e city.
