Wherry 78 prom-inent Ogden dentist and civic leader died yesterday at his residence 2575 Swaner P1- - of complications of cerebral hemorrhage Dr Wherry was credited with promotion for development of Wheeler Basin now known as Snow Basin as a summer and winter outdoor playground He was among the early advocates of public ownership of lands in denuded Wheeler Basin and worked with others to get funds with which to buy privately 'owned lands and turn them over to public ownership He was instrumental in getting private concerns owning lands in the basin to deed them to Ogden City and they were later turned over to the Forest Service for administration This area later became Ogden’s Snow Basin neaded Dental Associations He was a past president of Ogden Dental Association and Utah State Dental Association was a member of the American College of Dentistry and of Delia Sigma Delta He was also past president ‘of the Rotary Club and ofs the State American Automobile Association An active fraternal member and worker Dr Wherry was a charter member and past master ©f Unity Lodge 18 Free and Accepted Masons and a member of Utah Consistory Valley of the Salt Lake Orient of Utah He was a 33rd Degree Mason He was a member of Ogden First Methodist Church and a former active member of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce He was a member of Ogden Golf and Country Club and was a director HILL AIR FORCE BASE—The' prosecution rested its case this morning in the trial of Roberson Ale Jimmie charged with the unpremeditated murder last December of Ale Richard B Chiles 22 at Hill Air Force Base Roberson pleaded innocent claiming he shot Chiles in 7 in 'front of Barracks on Dec 24 After calling four witnesses the prosecution wound up its case The general court martial at this base was scheduled to reconvene at 1 pm todayi The defense counsel put two witnesses —Roberson and another airman-- on the stand before noon recess Specific Charge Specifically Roberson is charged with murder in violation of Article 118 of the Uniform Code of Justice It corresponds to a charge of unpremeditated murder under the Utah State criminal code First witness for the prosecution was A3c Robert Coppadge Jr He said he saw Roberson run downstairs from the second floor of the barracks with Chiles after him He said he saw Roberson turn when he reached a panel truck outside but said he didn’t see the actual shooting Second witness A2c Glen Fanner said he was in a mess hall and saw Roberson come in after the shots and call for the MP’s to tell them he’d shot a man He said Roberson also called
