JR. DR. 0RM3BY, LOGAN, CACHE COUNTY, UTAH. DRUGS From S. F. Chronicle. January 81 Yesterday, shortly afte noon, ar sailor belonging to the steamship Costa Rica, and known to his comrades as ''Dutch Charley ," was killed at the Dry Dock at Hunter's Poiut, in a very singular manner. The ship had reeeutly arrived from Panama and way ports, and was plated ou the Dry Dock for repairs. At Panama the crew of the ship was joined by 'Dutch Charley." At Mazitlan, where the ship tuuehed, the new recruit was stationed by the captain at a certain post to scrutinize everything taken on board and see that the firemen of the ship did not smuggle whiskey on board They did manage to steal three cases of wh'skey on board, aud Dutch Charley promptly reported the fact to the captain, who confiscated the smuggled treasure. The firemen vowed summary vengeance on the sailor, and on several occasions during the voyage Dutch Cha;ley and the firemen engaged in spirited discussions, which invariably terminated, however, iu a cloua of filthy epithet, which were bandied from one to the other as rapidly as articulation rendered possible. The firemen continued uttering their threats of veugeauce, aud yesterday afternoon the loug protracted quarrel culminated in the death of the unfortunate sailor. At noon the hands ceased work to partake of lunch at the hotel near ths dock. Dutch Charley, the sailor, and Antonio Hidalgo, one of the firemen, happened to pass from the ship to the dock side by tide, and unconsciously brushed against each other. The involuntary contact was misinterpreted by both men iu their aggressive state of mind, aud for a space of twenty or thirty yards they butted aga'ust each other, shoulder to shoulder, and endeavoring to throw each other. They finally and to doffing their fight, agreed overshirts engaged in a fierce encounter. A few blowa increased their wrath and they grasped stones, of which there was an abundance strewn about, tj throw at each other. The firemau was struck once or twice, but the sailor escaped untouched. The sailor drew a sheth knife, and holding it in one hand and grasping a huge stone in the other, he renewed the attack, making several desperate lunges at the fireman. The latter repelled the attack by giving the sailor a vigorous kick in the abdomen, which caused hiui to relinquish the fight for a time. Before the despera te combatants could cmoe together again the quartermaster of the Costa ltica sprang between them and induced the sailor to throw away his knife, and taking Hidalgo by the arm led him to the hotel. A moment after they had started to go away, leaving Charley standing alone, the latter was seen to clasp his hands on his breast and sit dowu. Two or threo persona hastened toward him, but before they reached him he 'rolled oyer and died. The circumstance was a matter of great astonishment to all, inasmuch as the sailor had not received any apparent injury in the fight other than the kick in the ibdomcn. which, at the time, did not appear to affect him more than as though it had been a slight tap in the face. An examination of the body did not disclose the slightest bruise on any portion of his body. A physician was called in and cave as his opiuion that the kick in the abdomen was the cause rough-and-tumb- if of Puro Wioei nnd Liquor, for Medicinal Purpose, Carefully Ouiiiuouudetl. .101m OmCK ltosekamn heard after and arrested 8II0W AND ROOM ON MAIN ST It IU 13 T, Bull For Sale.
