Young, at Manti, Sanpete County, of heart disease, last evening at 8:40 o'clock. Joseph A. The news of his sudden death will cause great grief among his numerous friends, and the to-da- y, Rktcrskd, RESTOBn.Mr. whole community will sympathize deeply with his family, parents, and other be reaved relatives. FURTHER PARTICULARS. The following telegram to President Brigham Young, gives particulars of the last moments of his oldest son, Joseph A. Young. Deceased was born iu Kirtland, Geauga County, Ohio, October 14th, 1S34. His remains arrived at Salt Lake last night: . "Manti, Aug. 6. "President Brigham Young: "Brother Joseph A. Young arrived here on the afternoon of the 4th mat.. in rather poor health, accompanied by Bro. James Clinton. He had an attack of congestive chills in Salt Creek Can yon. On the night of the 4th he passed a bad night, but was not considered dangerous, on the morning of the 5th he improved, and, during the day showed no alarming symptoms. He visited the site of the Temple in the evening, in company 'with his' daughter-in-laWhile there he expressed his pleasure to her that his father had confided the erect tion of the Temple to him, but said that he should never commence'lhe work, for the hand of death was upon him. On his return, about half past six o'clock p. m., he had a fresh attack of chills and cramp,' but again improved and after wards talked af considerable length, ou business, with brethren from Richfield, and while conversing with them was again attacked with cramp and , unexpectedly 'expired at 45 minutes past $. Shiells called to see us yesterday, looking brown and hearty after his trip through the mountains to Soda Springs. He speaks in glowing terms of the medicinal virtues of the springs, of which the is his favorite, a&d thinks that if he could sip daily from that fountain he'd never be sick again. Mr. Shiells says he never realized the value of the Junction as n advertising medium in the North, until he took this trip. He saw the Junction wherever be went, and when his name was mentioned everybody knew it, and referred to the Junction as the source of their "Ninety-per-cent- " information. A great many ef our patrons have come to the same conclusion as Mr. Shiells, and that is why the Junction has no occasion to whine that Ogden "inserts cards or nothing." We are thankful for our increasing advertising patronage, aod know that those who avail themselves of eur columns get the 1 worth of their money'. We congratulate Mr. Shiells on his safe return and restoration to health. THE BEHYEIt TRIAL. Baihin The Hitter, Holla E&TRA NOTICE. W .X WMEMIOH in 8 FOLLOW. T1 H,& 1NU deMCrtoMtfi I. Herald Beaver, 5. R N. Baskin, for the prosecution, closed the arguments for the Lee trial teday, making one of his characteristic, forcible, bitter speeches, chiefly against the "Mormons." He charged that the Mountain Meadow niasuacre was the work of the "Mormons," aud tke whites who took part in it did so by orders which they dared not disobey. When men went into the endowment house they surrendered their manhood, thoir individuality, and came out the subservient tools to priestly masters, and hence this foul massacre could be committed. The reason why the great crime had been bo long uninvestigated was that until the passage of the Poland law, the judiciary here was in the hands of the "Mormons" who would not punish their fellows for crimes against "Gentiles;" but the time had now arrived when the gen eral government was going to bring to the eurfaee all these crimes which had been buried so many years. He attacked the theory of the defense, tbat the whites went to the Meadow to protect the etui grants, saying such a story was an insult to the intelligence of the jury, lie said the massacre was the result of a spirit to revenge the death of Joseph Smith, that it was concocted by the "Mormons' and executed by them and their friends, htr. r!
