Mr. Brown says; "Mr. Goss sent only one instead of five dispatches." On Tuesday evening Mr. Goss sent and paid for a telegram by the Western Union to Governor Booth, stating particulars about the man detained here, and received no answer. On Wednesday morning he sent and paid for two separate and distinct messages by the same line to the operator at Battle Mountain, requesting an answer; none was received. Becoming impatient at the delay, Marshal Fife, at 1 p. m., went to the Atlantic and Pacific Telegraph office and telegraphed to Battle Mountain, receiving a reply at 2 p. m. to the effect that a man had been arrested there, and as soon ag the Sheriff arrived a more definite answer would be s of aji given.
