There has been tndny Improvements mado'ln 'our District since lust Full, among the most promiTfeut is our President, Bro. A. concrete mansion, the walls of which were erected last Fall. This Spring ho has been very busy getting his house finished, and is setting out an orchacd, covering four teres, in which he'has 400standurd trees besides numerous varieties of small fruit, such as plum, gooseberry, currant, raspberry, etc., etc. lie hut also planted a birge quantity of mulberriesfor shadetrees, which is agood example for his neighbors and friends. Ouo of h'u counselors, Brother Peterson, has also builtavery creditable frame house this winter. Last but not least by any means, is Bro. A. Green well's house. This is also of concrete, well, put up, neatly furnished, aud furnished in a manner worthy the possessor. He has ulso a large orchard, mostly of bearing trees. Hundreds of fruit and shade trees arc being planted, iu and around the gardens., Aud the President is urging the necessity of putting out shade trees around the farms, to beautify and to inhaucc the value of the same, which will I think, result iu mauy being planted. Many smaller houses have been built, of reasonable dimensions, and nicely furnished. The public growth of our district conin the sists principally store, built last fall, in which business is now conducted under the management of our old and esteemed friend Edmund Ellsworth, Sen. The Brethren also, moved about two miles, and rebuilt a substantial log school-hous- e last fall in which a good school has been taught ever Bince. On Sunday, 10th inst., tho weather being fine and the day warm, the was full of the residents of the district. After the usual singing and prayer, the report of the adoption of the liemon-B- t ranee and Resolutions of the Mass Meeting in Salt Lake City, by the citizens of Weber county, as published in your valuable paper, was read, after which tho President made a few very appropriate remarks in support of the principles contained in those documents, and said he desired to take the voice of the people of this district on the question, but wished none to raise their hands who did not feel in heart mid soul to sustain the kingdom, as before stated, at the risk of life, fortune and sacred honor. The vote was taken, nnd nil yea. every one in the house, polygiiniist and monogamist, married and single, old and young, raised tncir lianas to testily to heaven that, their all wns upon the altar for the fulfilling of God's purposes, with their lives to back it up. On Wednesday and Thursday, the Cth and 7th inst., we experienced the severest storm we have had this winter, the snow falling from eight inches to a foot deep, aud a cold and fierce wind blowing all the time, which made everything look as though the winter season had just commenced, instead of going out. But 1 learned from some of the brethren, who visited Ogden on Friday, that much more snow had fallen here than in any other place for miles around. Many accidents have occurred in the Weber river, iu consequence of the late storms raising the waters to such a high mark; it has become dangerous to ford it any longer; notwithstanding, mauy are venturing it at the risk of their lives and property. Only a few days since a team vviih ihi'ne men aud n number of sacks full of grain were capsized, and turned end over end, the men and team barely escaping, while fill else that the wagon contained was sacrificed to the waves. Many other instances of this kind could be enumerated.. 1 am afraid that we shall hear of some unfortunate losing his life in that stream before the public will take the hint and go around by the Weber bridgo, where iliere is no risk, and they can cross without any danger. Praying for the blessings of heaven to rest on all Israel, I remain your brother in the gospel, J. E. II. m-th- nicct-ing-hou- ' Exccesiosists.
