Corals, 60, wss drowned in the Weber river at 9:30 o'clock last Monday morning at the point where the intake of the Davis and Weber counties canal is situated near the mouth of Weber canyon. The body, badly bruised from encountering rocks and other obstacles, was found an hour and a half later two miles downstream, directly south of the store at Uintah. It was taken from the water by Philip Peterson, Leonard Anderson and Milton Anderson, who waded out and recovered it from where it had lodged in a riffle. The young men had been advised by Ezra Kendall shortly before that he had seen the body pass under the Uintah bridge, a short distance to the east. Mr. Cornia was working by the side of D. D. Harris, superintendent of the canal, at the time of the accident and was attempting to remove debris with a pole. Mr. Harris expresses the opinion that the pole struck something, throwing Mr. Cornia from his balance and causing him to tumble into the swollen stream. Mr. Harris also is of the opinion that in falling against a trash rack Mr. Cornia was stunned. A moment later, Harris added, Mr. Cornias body disappeared. Still later pne hand shot up through the muddy current and his head apthe peared for an instant and then Harbody sank and was swept away. ris said he was confident that Mr. Cornia was partly or wholly unconscious at that time. Harris immediately gave thiT and every available man was downstream in search of the bo Mr. Cornia was born in Utah and had resided at WooiT many years.
