We have received a flood of congratulations upon some of the matters of public concern which have appeared in the columns of this newspaper dur ing the last few weeks. citiJudged by the expressions of zens who have been kind enough to give The Post the benefit of their reactions to what they deem the truth as printed by this newspaper, there is a tremendous sentiment for the creation of another daily newspaper in Ogden. There is not a taxpaper in Ogden who has not a keen interest in the city government. The treatment given the two city administrations of the previous four years by the local daily paper has not yet been forgotten by the readers of Ogden. It. will be remembered that considerable adverse press play was given to matters of the administrations policies which might tend to discredit those administrations. Only this week the local daily paper undertook to chronicle proceedings at a meeting of the city commissioners in an informal meeting, in which a representative of this newspaper was involved. It is very evident from the tenor of what The Tost deems a fair, correct and impartial account of those proceedings printed in this issue, that the daily paper did not publish alt of the facts. Members of the commission were quoted on statements made at this meeting but not in full. In other words, all of the facta were not given to the public by that newspaper. It is the policy of The Post to throw the floodlight of publicity on matters of public interest so the people may know the truth. This brings back the adage that its often the truth that hurts. time-honor- Friday, March TiiiroGUiJiNn'osi' t our attendance has been fui'low, Come and everyone had an excellent time. nod bring a Iriend to a rhurrb of di.lir.c-t- i with the result that there is no flying glass. The party was shown over the plant by Mayor A. G. Lund-storand other Iigan city officials. Further inspection will be made of the Diesel plants at Idaho Falls and at Murray in the near future. Representatives of the engine company have been in Ogden and submitted figures as to the cost of operation and maintenance of a plant suitable for lighting Ogdens white way. Up to this time no official action has been 'taken by the' Ogden City commission, but the commissioners are quoted as saying they are very It much interested in is presumed that the commission will make thorough investigation before taking action in the matter. There are many features to the proposition such as existing contracts, the use of equipment now owned by transportation and lighting 'companies, now being used by the city, which would have to be adjusted before installing a plant. There is also investigation of cost of unkeep and operation of plants which have been operated for a considerable length of time, the loss of taxation and other matters which must be considered before making a capital expenditure. 11 : M m r-- a - TIIE LIBRARY v ; sf L-i .'V f(S 0 leclricUlasher, : Members of the city commission are to be congratulated on their decision to appropriate funds for use of the Carnegie free public library, which was consistently advocated by The Post. The public library is an institution whose facilities are available, to citizens of all classes and is quite as important as the state, county and city schools for whose maintenance large sums are paid in taxes.
