WARNER f Instructor in Physical Culture, Corrective Exercises and Wrestling at Weber RUDY WARNER. Gymnasium. (Written for The Ogden Post.) Health is the greatest asset a man can have, regardless of his vocation in life. A man may reach the pinnacle of achievement and have amassed great riches, but what does it avail him if in gaining these things he has lost the most valuable possession in life which is HEALTH, for tinless a man has health he is poor, indeed. It is very unfortunate, that after a man has stinted himself in the things of life, denied himself of its fruits and pleasures, and sacrificed the greatest joy and the things really worth living for in order that he may have fame and fortune, and then finds himself tottering on the brink of the great divide, that he cannot then, go to some doctor and say Oh Doctor if you will only give me health I will write you a check for ten thousand dollars," or go to some friendly druggist and say, Wrap up one thousand dollars worth of your best health in a nice pink package." Are you y fully equipped mentally and physically to taka a valiant part in the work of the coming years? The greatest of all eras is at hand! Are you increasing your fitness to appreciate it and take part in it, or are you merely drifting with the to-da- times? We are living in a world of complex problems, progress has made such rapid strides during the last quarter of a century that the man of twenty-fiv- e years ago would be lost if he were asked to meet the issues to-d- of 1 V to-da- ay y. We have (so to speak) advanced with the times that is true, but, if we have advanced in the past, we are in a turn of the road now that makes it imperative for us to advance even faster than we did. R we are to stay abreast of the times we must be able to meet each issue squarely as it arises. In so many words we must be master of the situation and able to cope with any emergency.1 A man' that is able to do this is both mentally and physically fit, he has a balanced mind and body,' neither part of which has been developed at the expense of the other. He is symmetrically developed and therefore you see this type of man head and shoulders above all others in anything he does. He is the balanced all around man, he is the half play half work type, he is a success no matter where you put him and is known as the in business. He is mentally alert and ' I . i go-gett- er physically fit and no matter what obstacles confront him he has them beaten from the start He goes into things with a snap, ginger and pep, seems younger, happier and enjoys his work and play. He looks on the bright side of life and gets all there is in life. Such a anm is a success you just simply cannot keep pre-ordain- ed him down. This progressive and rapid trend onward shows us the meaning of the survival of. the fittest, where a man must be qualified to do his work. It is not enough that you know all about nature of your work but you must have a strong physical body as well or else you will soon go dowm in defeat and someone better qualified than you will take your place. You may have a functioning brain one that is capable of thinking, doing and acting, but it wont remain so for long unless you house it within a strong, energetic, robust and well de- of them are shipped from the large stockyards. Last year 468,207 hogs changed hands at such places. No records are available to show the number purchased locally for this purpose, but it is safe to say that from all sources more than half a million feeder hogs were distributed.to farms. Following the severe outbreak of hog cholera in the fall of 1926, there were moved from officially supervised stockyards to farms, for restocking purposes, 400,355 hogs in six months. Some losses have been experienced by farmers in the purchase .of Stocker hogs. Ifl animals shipped from such stockyards the losses from various swine diseases have ranged from 3 to 7 per cent Hogs purchased at stock-yard- s where federal inspection is maintained are treated against hog cholera before shipping and the losses from that disease consequently have Under this system of eradicating the disease from cattle a circumscribed area, generally a county, is used as a unit, with the object of freeing it of the disease. More than 6,500,000 cat-;l- e of the total or over three-fourtnumber tested in the whole work of tJberculosis eradication were tested under this plan by county, state and federal veterinarians daring the last fiscal year. At the close cf the year 756 counties had engaged in eradication under this plan. This is an increase of 28 per cent over the reported number for the preceding year. hs been low.
