Telephone 365 EDITORIAL Seven Thousand Place Themselves on Trial It has often been said that the of a state or a nation is jutt the people are capable of as as good .enjoying. It has also been said that gov-emine- nt no community, organization or fraternity is better than its composition. In these days it has become more common for people to condemn partisan politics and political parties, but people who do so seem to forget that political parties can be no better than the people composing those parties. Recently in Salt Lake City it seems to have been proven that the party baiting element of the community has demonstrated the fact that it does not measure up to political partisan element At the late primary election in that city Alvin Keddington, city auditor, under indictment for irregularity in the handling of public funds, was the high man on the ticket and was declared the nominee for It is not the purpose of this article to declare the guilt or innocence of Mr. Keddington, but we do hazard the opinion that had his nomination depended on the action of a political convention be the convention either Republican or Democrat he would have not been nominated, nor would have any man who was under a grand jury indictment. All political parties are open to more or less just criticism; they will only measure up to their composition, but it is a poor party, indeed, that is so lacking in leadership and composition, and its duty to the public as were the more than 7,000 deluded, altruistic, tear tank tapping sentimental vindicators who piled up the big vote for the public idol. Keddington says he wants to be vindicated, and the 7,000 want him vindicated, and to vindicate him they would him. The d would comes to when it politician say candidates, we must have only those who do not need vindication. Seven thousand Salt Lakers havo placed themselves on trial, not Keddington (the courts will attend to that), and on Tuesday the verdict will be delivered. re-ele- hard-heade- ct . BAN KING use my best endeavors: To try by all means in my power to develop Ogden's water supply, through seeking to perfect the city's rights in the Echo reservoir; by aiding to the best of my ability the plan to develop tho waters of Ogden river by a dam in the upper canyon, and to protect and utilize to the best purposes the present supply. To use my vote and influence to secure for Ogden City an economical administration; for honest compliance with all public contracts, and fair treatment for all city employes. I shall endeavor to see that all public positions are filled by officers who will have the public's respect and confidence. I shall favor all movements which seek to make Ogden a better place in which to live, so long as an unwarranted use of taxpayers money is not required, and so long as improvements can be made without heaping additional burdens on the taxpayer. Full use of present equipment for sprinkling and other highway work will help the present situation.
