In respect to such positions the law of the state haa prescribed that they be filled by appointment of the mayor, by and with the idvlce and consent of the city council, and to permit this resolution to become effective would be to violate tbe plain statutory law of this state fa that respect notice that at least one of the proposed positions scheduled in the valerworks department haa heretofore been created by ordinance still in farce, requiring the appointment to be subject to confirmation by the counI 1 ict of ing about $20 worth of candies and other goods. Some of the boys had been arrested before for petit offenses. Their (ases were continued during good behavior. Andrew Tonneson. aged 15, was rharged with helping to burglarise Jenkins A Ashbys store on the night of February 21. There were four other boys In the affair, but they left the city and were raptured in California, and Sheriff Emery la now on bis way lack here with them. The case against Ton-nMwas continued. Henry Bates and Harry Woods, aged 15 and 14 years respectively, were committed to the reform school for burglary. They stole some hides from the barn of Victor Keoggan on the night of February 28. Eddie Knox and George Jaeschke, aged 13 years each, were also committed to the reform school. They burglarized a fair on the night of February 28 and stole several cups and saucers which they afterward sold to some women on Victoria alley. Knox has been arrested by the police on several previous occasions and Jaeschke was arrested once before. There was some question as to the age of Roes Moore. He testified that he la over 18. while the records of his case la the police court show that he ia only 17. As the court has no authority to commit a person over 18 years of age to the reform school, Moore's case waa continued until one week from today so as to find out from his mother his correct age. He haa been arrested for vagrancy and assault and battery. The cases against Parley Powell, George Cox and Harry Teuschcr were also continued Indefinitely.
