He had been sick for about ten days and hla parent! were with, him from the first intimation of hla lllnesi. He ha alway been rather frail and his system could not rally under the strain. He waa a most lovable little boy, 11 years of age, and a general favorite among his playmates. When his former teacher. Miss Eddy, told his classmates yesterday morning of their loss, they all wanted to show their sorrow and sympathy for the parents who are here hy wrltinj them letter of condolence. They suggested that perhaps God wa sorry, too, because it rained ao much on Thursday night and all day on Friday. The achool was closed all day yesterday and at 4 o'clock the funeral services were held in the chapel, conducted by Bishop Woolley, assisted hy Huperintendent Driggs and Mr. F. W. Chambers, a member nf the board of trustees. As the pupils of the school passed along to take a last look at their Utile friend, each one dropped a carnation Into the casket. Mr. and Mr. Freston left last night fur their home In Mount Pleasant. The scarlet fever patients are all out again, but the mump microlie seem to have been 'working overtime this winter. Mr. Henne has been putting In extra time lately in cataloguing the new lot of liooks just received and in typewriting the cards fur the card catalogue. The ninth and truth grade girls have been surprising their teacher lately with fruit and candy and recently gave him a beautiful valentine. Last Friday the tallies were turned and the pupils were treated to liberal quantities of nice oranges, candius and bananas. They all say. It is a good thing: shove it along. The older pupils are having a run on Idiomatic expression at present. It I the exception to find even an adult deaf iierson who can understand any more than the simplest of our idioms. Such expressions aa the tables were turned, turnpd him down, brought the house down." etc., are so much Greek to the average deaf person. Nor are they to blame because they do not understand them. They never hear others use them, ss often we do. and though they may see them In print many limes they never comprehend their full significance until they are told. It is a fact lhat I'nlted States English as she Is spoke" has never been taught so much as at present and it ts expected that the rising generation of deaf persons will be able to comprehend modern English much better than they who have gone before.
