Aud we think they should all be Ashamed of the assertion that men, who, being appointed to serve the Government in Utah, and who had no fight against the "Mormons," have been "uniformly deuounced" for thus minding their ovn business. Does the office of Surveyor, or of Revenue Collector, or of Land or of Postmaster in Register, Utah, require its incumbent to make "Mormon" fighting its chief employ? Yet the occupants of these positions sign the document which states this has been their great delight, and that they have "uniformly denounced those who have not joined them in their damned iniquity. It is new well known that many of the diseases to which women are subject, have a direct tendency to render them irritable, peevish, cross, moroS unreasonable, so that they chafe and fret over all those little ills and annoyance that a person in health would bear with composure. It is fair to infer that most of the tantrums of Xnti pe were due to these causes alone; and could Socrates, as he returned from the Senate, the Gymnasium, the Atheneum, have stopped at Pestle & Mortar's Drue Store and carried" home a bottle of Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, now and then, no doubt he might have evaded many a "curtais lecture, allayed many a "do- mestio broil," made it much pleasanter for the children, and more enjoyable for himself, aad rescued his wife's name from the nnruviable, world-widand eternal notoriety it has attained. The Tribune's Washington special says: Mr. Kobb, who, as United States ocnsul, spent two years on the 'Hio Grande border, taking testimony in regard to losses by the Mexican raids, and who claims to be better acquainted with the exact character of these incursions than army officers ean possibly be, has arrived in Washington for the purpose of testifying before the Mextcxn border committee. He says be has heard three plans suggested for putting a stop to those outrages, as follows: First, that proposed by Gen. Sheridan, who says if the goverment will give him 10,000 men, with full power to ant at his discretion, he will take charge of the border and He would give the stop the incursions. Mexican governmeat thirty dnys lo perfect measures for the prevention of any further raids, and if any occurred after that time he would cross into Mexico and punish the thieves en their own soil. He also preposs ultimately to establish a new boundary between the United States and Mexico, annexing to the United States that portion of Mexico north of a line extending from a point on the Sierra Madras to El Paso, including about 500,000 square miles of country, very rich in minerals. The seoond plan is to raise three regiments of Texas cavalry at the eipeuse of the United States, and to place them under the command of United Btates officers. Mr. Kobb doubts if this plan would be effective, and thinks it would cost at least $3,000,000 before the raids were stopped. His own plan is to make an immediate demand on Mexico for the payment of all losses sustained by the citizens of the United estates on account of these raids, amounting to about Of course Mexico could not pay this sum, and on its failure to do so he would demand the immediate abrogation of the treaty of duadalope Hidalgo, and the forming of a new treaty wbioh would contemplate the annexation of the same strip of territory which it is proposod to acquire by Gen. Sheridan's plan. New Orleans, 2G. "To the Hon. speakers and members of the House of Representatives. A special committee appointed by the House to investigate the conduct of W. P.
