The prisoner is charged with setting up a bogus lottery and using the United States mails as a conveyance to promote its interest. Gabaco, Benachi's bookkeeper, was also arrested as accessory. Benachi was tbe purchasing agent in this city for Ralli Bros. The defalcation extends over two years' business. San Francisco, 4. Jacob Underbill & Co., a heavy hardware firm, has suspended. A dispatch from Cainpo, San Diego county, near tbe Mexican line, reports an attack by Mexican bandits, stipposed to be Chavez's band. L. Gaskell, mer chant, is probably fatally wounded, and his brother and others seriously wounded, and several are missing. One robber was killed and a number wounded. The bandits robbed store of every thing of value and made off. A requisition is asked from the governor for the apprehension of the bandits, who have probably recrossed the border. The vessel reported lost on Destruction island proved to be the ship Emily Farnum, hence lo Departure bay with railroad iron. She was driven on tbe island on the night of tbe 18th ult., in a gale. The ship broke in two, and the after house lodged on the rocks. John Hoaglin, seaman, a native of Nova Scotia, and the Chinese steward, were swept away. The others got a line to the island and escaped, and were taken by the Indians to the mainland.
