We read the following report of the teriitorial asylum coramiHaiouers in this morning's Herald; The asylum commissioners met at the appointed hour on Tuesday, and occupied the entire forenoon in the transaction of business. It was then decided to adjoura until 2 o'clock, when the board should vote by ballot tor the choice of a location. Salt Lake county has 2 votes, Utah county 2 votes, Weber county J, and Davis ceusty 1, with the Governor representing the territory, and making 7 votes in all. Two ballots were ta ken, each resulting in 3 votes for Salt Lake county, 2 for Utah, 1 for Weber and 1 for Davis, giving Sail is-one vote above her own, while the uiher counties have received the sAsae number of votes which they are entitled to cast. Nothing can be told a3 to bow the members are voting. An adjournment was taken until this morning, when the balloting will be resumed. Hie board, in the first place, de cided to settle on one of the sites in each county and then the vote which gave to the lucky county the asylum would also settle the question as to which of the sites offered in the county should be accepted. Acting upon this plan in Salt Lake county, Dr. S. B. Young s asylum was select ed: in Utah county, Father Graves' Gardens; in Davis county, the mouth or fchepherd s Canyon, and in Weber, eery and llernck's 2 acres. By special from Suit Lake City, we learn that the vote in this morning's session of the territorial lunatic asy lum commission was in favor of Davis County (mouth of Shepherd's Canyon), provided that the supply of water and title to the land prove satisfactory. A committee has been appointed to investigate the matter. It consists of Messrs W. W. Burton, Dusenberry and Winder. The com- tn'uwion adjourned to next Wednes day. ! old-tim- e Cot Wet. With a few words of deep meaning, he rushed for the cellar, and sure enough, much of his property was gone. Frantically did he grab what was remaining, and in his hurry to save his treasure, slipped down a well, located close to his fruit box. Luckily, the well was but a few feet deep, and the water, though cold and some three or four feet in lepth, was not sufficient to endanger hi.) life.
