The final party of the season given at Farr's Hall, by the members of the Y. M. M. I. A., of the Third Ward, last evening, waa fully equal, if net superior, to all previous ones. A very select company of dancers assembled, and a most enjoyable time was experienced by all. The musio was good, the prompting excellent, and the only regret is that the association has closed its danc ing season so toon. "Leader" Locals. From the Logan Leader of the 6th inst. we glean the following . A youth was recently detected in the aot of stealing sugar from a bar rel in the back room of one of our mercantile establishments. Nothing was said to him, but the day follow injr the discovery when he again vis ited tbe sweet reservoir his nand was ruinlit bv a beaver tran which had been skillfully placed where it would do the most good. He begged for mercv and was released. Recently the witeot Williara'isant, who resides near Clifton, Idaho, was engaged in booking into their well, when the boards on which she was standing slipped down at one end, and let her fall to the bottom, a dis tance of about 25 feet. I he well be ins dry and not walled up, the result wai not as serious as it might have been. Striking upon her face, one of her wrists was sprained and her face badly bruised: otherwue she was comparative uninjured. A strange escape from death was on Monday experienced by a young man named Hansen who resides at Bicler Sprines, near Hampton' Sta tion. He was riding on horseback to Loean. for the purpose of securing the attendance of Dr. Ormsby for his mother, who was very ill at Bngham tv. Just this side ot the Divide the animal he was riding slipped and fell upon his leg. The horse, which was untamed, sprang to his feet, and young Hansen was landed with his shoulders upon the trozen ground, while both bis leet were held in tbe stirrups. He expected to be dragged to death, but had presence ot mind enough to call gently to the animal. The result was instantaneous for the horse, trembling in every limb, stopped until it rider could disen tangle his limbs and remount. Air. Hansen came to Logan; but, though painfully hurt, was so anxious about his mother that he did not ask for surgical attention for several hours. Then Dr. Ormsby examined his injuries and dressed his foot. Though no bones were broken, it will be some time before he will have entirely recovered. Mother Goose. Oopen, Feb. 6th, 1880. The 'enterprise of our city maybe shown by a comparison with its journalistic business and that of the great English metropolis. While London with her four millions of inhabitants has only IS daily papers, we enjoy two such, distributed among a population of 5,000 souls, making one paper to every 2,500, while it takes over 22,200 London-iteto support one daily journal. If we will anticipate the future and calculate on a city population equal to that of London, we will then be running 1,600 daily papers. Even as a territory we far exceed tba mighty England, whose thirty millions of citizens have only 153 periodicals wherefrom to derive their daily intelligence, while every score of a thousand inhabitants of Utah supports on daily paper. Mr. T., who hag had a great experience in theatricals for many years iu this Territory, and under whose able management the new company is bound to flourish, expresses himself delighted with the exhibition of talent already display ed by the members of the young ass sociatiom.
