The Church of the Pilgrims, Dr. Storr pastor, was crowded by a congregation anxious to hear the views it had been announced he would deliver in regard to the recent advisory council. Dr. Stoirs read his statement in regard to the troubles of Plymouth church. He never took part in them, and would not do so now. He characterized the recent advisory council, although composed of a very intelligent body of men, as one of no great moral weight. It was large in membership power, representing a He thought constituency of the previous Congregational council had much more weight, because it was not composed of delegates known to be favorable to Plymouth church. He knew there we-- e in the late council very many deleca'es favorable to Plymouth church. This fact would throw some light on the strong remiUs arrived at He referred to the fact that while here the delegates wers specially cared for by Plymouth church. He condemned the rules laid down by the council for tbe admission of members and guidance of Congregational churches. He condemned the construction of the manner of the communion which opened its doors to all who sought admittance, and excluded the examination by the church of the forger, adulterer and maligner, merely dropping their nameB from the roll on account of absence from the church. He thought the recent advisory council improper, as it tended to cause innumeraHe thought ble councils to be called the council had, without intention, heaped dirt im (he great doctrines of the Lord, and spread its protecting wings over the pastor of Plymouth church. Ac cording to the doctrine of the Catholic church, the unchristian character of the priest made no difference to the member, in so far as the efficiency of the sacraments was concerned, but it would be hard to make Prottsfan s accept such a view. Such a council a ha l been called would have about as much effect as a brush of feathers in clearing out a mine. The request from the church in Audover to Plymouth church was perfectly proper, and the council went out of its way to deal with the matter.
