Show California Republicans Bitterly Denounce Committee San Francisco, June 11. Tho Republican Re-publican state central committee sent tho following telegram today to Victor Vic-tor Roscwater, chairman of tho national na-tional committeo at Chicago: "Tho Republican state contral committee com-mittee of California denounces your shameful attempt to unseat two Roosevelt delegates elected by a majority ma-jority of 77,000 votes Every decent Republican In the state, bo he for Taft or for Roosovelt, is astounded at the political piracy. The election of the entire Roosevelt delegation was never questioned in the state of California. Cal-ifornia. There was no contest of any sort. The Tuft committeemen and the Taft papers accepted the roBUlt and declared repeatedly and publicly there could bo no honest contest. "A fictitious controversy was created cre-ated solely and alone by Patrick Calhoun, Cal-houn, Indicted here with Abe Ruef for bribery, and franchise theft We prosecuted and imprisoned men for those thefts in California. You have sanctioned and ratified similar thefts. All Republicans of California endorse Governor Johnson and the duly elected elect-ed delegates as the true representatives representa-tives of the Republican party. The Republican state central committee of California denies the right of men, already al-ready dlscrdited by the Republicans of their own state and yet sitting In the national committee, to presume to represent the true Republican party of tho nation." The message is sigr,ed, "The State Central Committee, by Charles R. Detrick, Secretary." The sending of the message was ordered at a meeting of tho executive execu-tive committee of the state central committee. Since the campaign, in which Governor Hiram W. Johnson was elected, the state central committee commit-tee has been controlled by the Lincoln-Roosevelt league of the state. |
